Chapter 770 The Riot Begins

The security guards who had been ordered to stop these people did not expect to hear such words. The fact that no one stood up to refute Xu Ke’s statements meant that everything Xu Ke said was true. The security guards could hardly imagine how there could be such people in the world, working without diligence. Did they not feel that this money burned in their hands?
With such a work attitude, they still had the gall to come for their wages. Didn’t they feel ashamed in their hearts? They even wanted to return to work. What were they thinking? How could people be so shameless?
Although the security guards didn’t speak, their thoughts were just like this, and their expressions conveyed it exactly. The protesters opposite lowered their heads more and more. A few with thinner skins wished they could become ostriches and burrow into the sand out of shame.
Some people with thinner skin were contrasted by those with thicker skin. Some felt embarrassed, but others had no such emotions. It was as if they were born missing this feeling of shame. Xu Ke’s words to them seemed light and inconsequential.
"Those are things of the past. It’s pointless to talk about them here. Let’s focus on the present. No matter how you look at it, we’ve worked at this factory for several years. To be honest, you don’t have as much experience as we do. You just took office and were so eager to dismiss us. Who knows what your intentions are!"
"Exactly, maybe Qiao En was also bribed by him, deliberately leading us to make such mistakes, wanting to justifyably terminate us. There’s no smoke without fire. There must be a conspiracy in what you’re doing, and we won’t let your conspiracy succeed."
"That’s right. If you don’t give us a satisfactory answer today, we’ll blow this matter up, letting everyone see how this cunning Asian is playing tricks in our country."
It must be said that the combat strength of these old scoundrels was far superior to the previous group. In a few words, they had twisted this incident into a conspiracy theory, elevating the event to another dimension.
Seeing the shameless faces of these people, Xu Ke completely lost interest in speaking with them. He even felt that looking at them was an insult to his eyes.
"Ignore whatever they say. If anyone dares to cross that line, shoot them. I’ll take responsibility if anything happens, but do not let them come over." Xu Ke directly turned to instruct the security guards.
Then Xu Ke turned around and went back into the factory, no longer concerned with what was happening outside.
Xu Ke’s straightforward departure stunned those outside who had intended to bicker further with him. They did not expect Xu Ke to leave so decisively, without any room for negotiation, and the previously suppressed unrest finally erupted.
The protesters completely disregarded Xu Ke’s earlier words, not believing that the people he hired would indeed act against them. One by one, they charged towards the factory gates like a horde of zombies. Before the other security guards could react, a man who was a former soldier fired swiftly.
He didn’t aim to kill. Bullet by bullet, he shot into the legs of those charging.
The people hit stumbled and fell, and those behind had no time to react, tripping over the fallen individuals. Those in the back couldn’t see what was happening up front, and in the blink of an eye, the men shot in the legs became stepping stones for their fellow protesters.
The cries of pain and wailing were loud and long, but they didn’t cease.
Perhaps someone once thought of stopping, but they ended up trampled underfoot by those behind them, using their own pain and blood to advise the others never to halt.
Despite some constantly falling, more people rushed forward. Although the security guards had guns, they couldn’t withstand the overwhelming numbers. The protesters used sheer numbers to pave a path towards the factory.
Some security guards had never seen such a scene. The first thing they did when people charged was to turn and flee, but luckily the veteran stood beside them and pulled them back, declaring, "Retreat now and it’s a dead end."
The veteran’s eyes carried a ferocity, and his grip was like iron, leaving no chance to break free, "Nobody moves. Run and you’re as good as dead. Grab your weapons and stand firm."
The veteran’s voice was like a stabilizing force, embedding in the ears of the panicked security guards, helping them regain composure. Though their hands still trembled as they fired, none stopped shooting, none took a step back, and none gave up.
The two groups tangled together, with continual bloodshed and injuries. However, as more individuals fell around them, the frenzied mob began to regain their senses. Their advance slowed, bewildered, looking at the bodies lying around them.
The protesters suffered heavy losses, but the security guards were not much better off. Only one former soldier remained unharmed, but he was exhausted, panting heavily. The other security guards, though disheveled and bruised, were relatively better off. Those more severely wounded lay on the ground, blood-soaked. Aside from breathing, which proved they were alive, they were almost indistinguishable from the dead.
The police station, having received a call, quickly dispatched officers, but as if by magic, by the time they arrived, all was already over. They merely acted as sweepers, responsible for the aftermath.
The police had never before seen such a large-scale brawl. The officers sent were insufficient, necessitating additional calls for more personnel and medical staff to deal with the aftermath.
Xu Ke didn’t stay at the factory; he promptly went to the hospital with the medical staff to ensure the injured security guards were out of life-threatening danger, merely with some broken bones to heal. Reassured, Xu Ke immediately sent some money and told them to focus on recovery. Other injured personnel also received financial compensation to various extents.
When it was the veteran’s turn, though unharmed, he too received an amount from Xu Ke, leaving him a bit flustered, momentarily unsure of what to do with his hands.
"I wasn’t even hurt. Why do I also have money?" the veteran asked, rubbing his hands on his pants.
"This is what you deserve. I saw on the surveillance that if it weren’t for your swift judgments and commands at critical moments, our losses wouldn’t have been so small. So, just accept the money," Xu Ke said with a smile, noticing the veteran’s unease.
After organizing the hospital matters, Xu Ke then hurriedly got into a police car and headed to the station, cooperating with the police, and he brought along a team of lawyers.
The previously anxious security guards, upon seeing the famous top-tier lawyers Xu Ke had hired from this small town, found their nerves settled. The look of worry eased somewhat from their faces.
