Chapter 732: Make a Decision
The proud advantage the man had earlier turned into his disadvantage at this moment. With so many things on him, the man’s movements couldn’t be nimble.
He couldn’t dodge these attacks as flexibly as Xu Ke, especially when Xu Ke had already figured out which parts of his body weren’t protected. It was like a hedgehog stripped of all its spines, without an umbrella, left to be slaughtered like a pig.
In just a short time, the man was covered in scars. Besides the exposed parts, his upper body was almost shredded, and his blood soaked his shirt into a deep color.
"No, don’t come over." The man waved his hands, terrified, preventing Xu Ke from getting closer.
"Stay away from me, don’t come near me, you devil. If you kill me, God will punish you," the man shouted at Xu Ke.
"No, He should thank me instead, thank me for sending a beast like you back to Hell," Xu Ke tilted his head, smiling at the man.
"No, don’t do this to me. I know I’m wrong and I will change. Believe me, I will never do this again. I will treat them well from now on. No, I won’t even appear in front of them anymore, okay? The child is still young; she can’t be without a father. If she doesn’t have a father, she will be mocked by other children at school." The man pleaded with Xu Ke.
Xu Ke didn’t respond to him but instead turned his gaze to the female shop owner.
"I originally intended to kill him directly, but he said something right; he is the child’s father. The child is still young and knows nothing. I’m an outsider, not fit to make decisions for the child. So I’m giving you, the mother, the decision. If you choose to let him die, I will help you deal with him. If you want him to live, then I will not come to this flower shop again." Xu Ke finished speaking and closed his mouth, giving her some time to make a decision.
Xu Ke is not a traditionally good person. He decides what to do based on his own feelings, just like his decision to help this female shop owner.
But similarly, if the shop owner makes a choice today that is not what Xu Ke wants, he will withdraw and will no longer help this fairy-like shop owner, even if she has a very adorable daughter.
He would help someone, but never without principles, without any conditions, to help someone eternally.
The shop owner evidently understood the meaning in Xu Ke’s words, so she became conflicted, fortunately, Xu Ke didn’t rush her, allowing her to think carefully.
But unfortunately, the man kept talking and disturbing her.
The shop owner heard the man’s tearful pleas, heard him say, "I know I’ve wronged you in many ways in the past, and I’ve done many wrong things, but I hope you can give me a chance to correct. You have to believe I still love you, I just didn’t know how to express it, but from today, I am willing to learn how to love someone. I hope, for the sake of the love we once had, you can give me this chance."
The shop owner covered her mouth, looked at her daughter in her arms, whose eyes were red from crying but didn’t dare make a sound, and she shed tears again.
The man, separated by a distance from the shop owner, couldn’t see her expression or hear her voice, which made him feel a little panicked.
He couldn’t see the shop owner, which meant he couldn’t judge her current expression, leaving him very uncertain.
"Darling, will you say something to me, please? I beg you, say something to me. I want to hear your voice. I’m bleeding continuously, and I feel like I’m running out of strength, I feel like I’m dying. Can’t you let me hear your voice before I die?" The man implored weakly.
Finally, the shop owner peeked out from behind a shelf. She absolutely didn’t look good now, but the man’s eyes lit up the moment he saw her, and he even felt that this was the most beautiful moment since they met.
The shop owner saw the man’s bright eyes, saw his body covered in wounds and his bloodstained shirt.
Perhaps due to the pain, the shop owner’s expression was somewhat twisted. It was like a smile but full of tears, or crying but with an inner smile, a contradictory yet opposite expression.
All these appeared on one person’s face at the same time, making the person look quite strange.
But everyone present now had no mood to mind these details; they were all waiting for the shop owner’s answer.
"Please think of our good times, think of our child. She’s still young, she can’t be without a father. I’ve lost so much blood, if I’m not taken to the hospital soon, I might pass out and die from blood loss. Do you want our child to have no father in the future? Do you want the child to ask why others have fathers but not her, and then have to say she had a chance to save her father but did nothing because of past grievances, leaving her fatherless?" the man opened his mouth and said.
"So you’re threatening me now?" The shop owner swallowed, her voice trembling slightly.
"I’m not threatening you, I’m just describing what might happen in the future," the man flatly denied.
The shop owner raised her head, looked at the green vines covering the ceiling, gave a short laugh, "Sir, I think I know what my answer is. I want him dead." The shop owner retracted her gaze, speaking with indifference.
"Are you crazy? I never thought you’d be such a selfish person. Are you really going to disregard the bond between us? Are you really planning to let your daughter have no father? Have you thought about how you’ll explain this to your daughter in the future?" The man, watching Xu Ke approaching, spoke urgently.
"It doesn’t matter, I believe my daughter will understand me. I also believe she definitely wouldn’t want to have a father like you. You say you’ll change, but I don’t believe you at all. Someone rotten to the core like you, how could you possibly change? Even if you change, it’s only for the worse. You simply can’t become good." The shop owner said expressionlessly.
"Rather than letting my daughter have a father who might ruin her future, I’d rather be the bad guy myself, and end you completely so you can never do bad things again."
