Chapter 726: Just Kidding with You

Not only did they close their own eyes, but they also covered Alice’s eyes. Thus, the three of them did not see Xu Ke prop himself up on the handrail, using his knee as a weapon, suddenly striking the bully on the head, kicking him down the stairs, causing him to roll down like a ball.
The three of them did not see this scene and only heard the sound. Their bodies trembled, and the proprietress even shed tears with her eyes closed.
The family of three huddled together for warmth like quails, trembling yet not letting go of each other’s hands. They thought that Xu Ke standing in front of them had already been knocked down by the opponent, and they would be the next to be hit. But the imagined pain did not arrive; instead, there was a sound of chaotic footsteps coming from downstairs.
Alice was the first to remove her mother’s hand and looked in the direction of the sound. Seeing the scene in front of her, she couldn’t help but let out a soft gasp. Alice’s reaction attracted the attention of the boss and the proprietress, and the two of them turned their heads to look in the direction of the sound in unison.
What they saw was the bully lying on the ground, not knowing what he had hit. His face was bruised and swollen, much fatter than before, now surrounded by his lackeys, glaring fiercely at Xu Ke while wiping the blood from his nose.
Alice was amused by this ridiculous scene and couldn’t help but laugh, but she laughed very quietly and was not noticed by anyone. Meanwhile, she looked at Xu Ke with eyes that subtly glowed like tiny lamps in the dark night.
The boss and the proprietress looked at this scene and secretly felt relieved, thinking that the oppressive feeling that had been entangling their chests since yesterday had dissipated quite a bit.
"How dare a pretty boy like you hit me." The bully suddenly pushed away the person wiping his nose blood, "What are you all doing standing around? Didn’t you see that I’ve been hit? Hurry up and go beat that damn pretty boy to death!" the bully shouted at his lackeys.
The people the bully brought weren’t many; just a glance showed there were only about five or six people. Xu Ke rolled up the sleeves of his pajamas, exposing his elbows, then extended a hand, raised a finger towards the people standing below, and hooked his finger.
The provocation was so blatant that it instantly heightened people’s emotions, and they charged at Xu Ke with even more speed.
Behind Xu Ke, Alice and her family still maintained their embrace, but this time, for some reason, their fear had greatly diminished, as if as long as Xu Ke stood before them, they wouldn’t be afraid of anything. It was an inexplicable feeling that made them feel at ease.
Xu Ke did not disappoint them. He stood alone at the staircase entrance, his shoulders and back straight like a mountain that couldn’t be crossed, blocking all the enemies in front of him. Not a single person could break through Xu Ke’s defense; they were either kicked down by Xu Ke or punched down, and those trying to take a shortcut by flanking were not spared either.
In just a short moment, the once-empty floor was now littered with many people.
"Do you still want to continue?" Xu Ke let down his rolled-up clothes and dusted off the nonexistent dust on his clothes as he spoke.
"Where the hell did you come from, and why are you meddling in our affairs?" The bully stared straight at Xu Ke, his eyes filled with both fear and dissatisfaction. "If I remember correctly, you haven’t even been here for long. The issues between them and me have nothing to do with you. Why are you here disrupting my plans, looking for attention?" The bully’s nostrils were stuffed with two balls of paper, making him look somewhat amusing as he spoke.
"It’s simple. It’s because your business disturbed me. I was having a good sleep, and your people, including you, forcibly woke me up from my sweet dream. You tell me if I shouldn’t come out and be a roadblock," Xu Ke said lazily as he looked at the bully’s face.
"If it’s because of that, then you’ve already stopped us once. I suppose we’re even now, but why are you still blocking the way?" The bully asked with a displeased look, watching Xu Ke’s position.
It wasn’t until the bully asked this question that Xu Ke revealed a smile akin to having successfully pulled a prank, "I’m not leaving because the reasons I just gave were made-up, just to mess with you. The real reason is that there’s no reason at all; I just don’t like you, plain and simple." Xu Ke didn’t care at all about how infuriated this made his opponent, nor about what kind of trouble this might bring him.
In short, none of these consequences were within Xu Ke’s consideration. He stood in front of everyone with the air of a dependable mountain, and this scene was observed by Alice, who carefully and tenderly cherished it in her heart.
Xu Ke’s words were undoubtedly a provocation, a very blatant provocation, a challenge to the bully’s status. Such provocation left the bully, who already intended to back off, without any way to retreat. If he backed down in the face of such a challenge from Xu Ke, then truly no one would listen to him anymore, and as the neighborhood bully, he would lose all dignity.
The bully pushed away the lackeys close to him and regrouped, marching toward Xu Ke’s direction. This time, he put away all his underestimation of Xu Ke, and seriously regarded Xu Ke as his opponent.
The bully once again ascended the stairs he had previously rolled down. Coupled with his face full of scars and fierce eyes, it really brought an impending sense of storm, and Alice’s family, hiding behind Xu Ke, inevitably became tense.
Although they coveted Xu Ke’s protection, they weren’t the kind of people who only cared about themselves. They quietly nudged Xu Ke’s back, and the proprietress said softly with gratitude, "We are very thankful for everything you’ve done for us, so if you can’t hold on, just give up; it’s okay, we won’t blame you. You’ve already done your best."
"Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing. As long as I’m here, I won’t allow them to run rampant here," Xu Ke said as he moved his neck, his tone light.
With Xu Ke turned away from them, Alice’s family could only see Xu Ke’s back. Thus, they didn’t know that Xu Ke’s expression at this moment was even more intimidating and dangerous than the bully’s, so they were still worried about Xu Ke.
The shift in Xu Ke’s gaze made the bully’s steps pause momentarily, but it was just a brief moment. In the next second, the bully bravely continued to walk forward. "Today, I must make you fall at my feet and weep bitterly."
