Chapter 730: The Man in the Flower Shop

"Ever since I was young, I’ve always strived to be the best in everything I do. Naturally, the students I teach are also the best. If they’re not the best, then it’s meaningless. So, being my student is bound to be a tough ordeal. If you can’t handle the hardship, I suggest you change your horseback riding instructor while we’re just getting started," Xu Ke said calmly.
However, the four students in front of him—whether it was the spoiled Marian, who couldn’t stand Xu Ke, or the fragile Nancy, who seemed like a gust of wind could blow her away—none of them wanted to leave Xu Ke and find another teacher.
Though they were tired, they weren’t fools.
Compared to their other siblings, they improved the fastest. On the very first day of riding, they were already able to trot on horseback for a bit. The others could only sit still on their horses, not daring to move.
They didn’t say it out loud, but they were quite satisfied with this situation.
"Since you have no objections to my teaching methods, I hope you’ll cooperate with me in the future. I don’t want to hear any more complaints. This lesson ends here; we’ll meet again in the next class." Xu Ke nodded to the four of them and turned to leave.
However, after taking a few steps, he seemed to remember something and turned back to call out to them.
"I almost forgot to mention, remember to massage and fully relax your legs when you go back, so you won’t be bedridden tomorrow. Also, don’t think that just because you trotted a bit on horseback today, you know how to ride independently. You must ride only under my supervision. If you have an accident while practicing on your own, I won’t be responsible!"
Having said everything he wanted to, Xu Ke finally left the Calvin Family’s place at a leisurely pace.
Initially, Xu Ke planned to head straight back to the hotel, but he remembered the mother and daughter he met at the flower shop yesterday.
He wasn’t sure if they’d been harassed by that beastly man after he left, so Xu Ke paused and headed toward the flower shop.
Before Xu Ke reached the flower shop, he heard screams coming from inside.
His expression changed, and he quickly ran toward the shop.
Upon arriving and seeing the scene, Xu Ke’s eyes almost glinted with cold fury.
The man Xu Ke had beaten and warned yesterday was at the flower shop again today. The once fresh and warm shop was now in complete disarray.
The woman in the shop was curled up, clutching her child, while the man kicked at her relentlessly, mouthing filthy words.
Seeing the situation, Xu Ke rushed in.
When the man saw it was Xu Ke who came in, he first flinched instinctively, but then had a smug look on his face, as if he had some backing.
"You dare to come back? Apparently, the last lesson wasn’t harsh enough!" Xu Ke glanced at the mother and daughter lying on the ground and licked his back teeth, suppressing an inexplicable fury.
"Why wouldn’t I dare? Not only do I dare to come, but I also dare to hit people and smash this shop. Look at these; they’re all my masterpieces. Beautiful, aren’t they?" The man laughed arrogantly and even stomped on a bunch of flowers in front of Xu Ke.
"Just leave, stop getting involved, stop," the woman said, her face bruised and swollen.
She had a head wound that was bleeding, staining the girl’s clothes with a red blood stain.
"I must intervene, or he’ll beat you to death," Xu Ke said, frowning as he looked at the mother and daughter in their sorry state, then at the man’s unrepentant and even smug demeanor, and felt an urge to tear him apart.
"You beat your daughter and ex-wife, whom you lived with for so many years, with such brutality. Are you even human?" Xu Ke asked seriously, trying to find even a trace of humanity in him, but failing.
This man reeked entirely of beastly odor, with no human trace.
"Wife and daughter? They betrayed me, abandoned me, and this is their fate. Why should I live so miserably while they live happily? Tell me why? They’ve had it so good, why can’t they support me a bit?" The man kicked the woman again and said with dissatisfaction.
"No woman in the world is good; when married, she ate, used, and wore what I provided. Did she complain then? Now that I’m down and out, she tells me we’re divorced and is eager to get rid of me. How can there be such a thing in the world?" The man sneered.
"Trying to get rid of me and live happily on their own? I tell you, it’s impossible! And that little bastard, born of a bitch, look how she’s been raised by her mother? I’m her father; what’s wrong if I hugged her? She actually complained that I stink, refused to let me hug her. So young and already a white-eyed wolf; imagine when she’s older. Rather than let her harm others, I might as well kill her now and contribute to the world." The man laughed, his eyes ruthless as he looked at his ex-wife and daughter, and Xu Ke realized he wasn’t joking.
He meant it; he genuinely wanted to kill his daughter and hurt his ex-wife.
A child is most sensitive to a person’s kindness or malice. While protected in her mother’s embrace earlier, the little girl didn’t cry, but now she couldn’t hold back and started crying louder and louder.
The little child’s heart understood what her father intended to do, and despite her disdain for her father’s scent, her natural affection for him wasn’t fake, but it was about to be crushed.
The woman, ignoring her injuries, carefully comforted her daughter, even sang a lullaby softly, but it had little effect, and instead, it irritated the man, who had murderous intent.
"You better shut that kid up, or I won’t hesitate to kill her now," the man lifted his hand in threat, annoyed by the girl’s crying.
Only then did Xu Ke notice that the man held a knife in his hand, not very long but seemingly sharp.
The woman frantically covered her child’s mouth, blocking her cries inside.
