Chi Enen, in the face of his sharp, penetrating gaze, did not retreat. She naturally maintained her previous action, her eyes seemingly filled with stars, involuntarily reminding one of the meteor shower that evening.
The cold-faced man could no longer maintain his tense expression, once again averting his gaze and releasing her wrist, âI donât like you!â
After speaking, he turned and strode back to his swivel chair.
Chi Enen, abruptly rejected by him, was momentarily stunned, then looking at his calm, expressionless demeanor, felt increasingly that he appeared more like the one who had just been rejected.
She couldnât help but want to laugh for some reason.
She walked over unhurriedly, approached the man, and pursued him with a question, âWhy?â
Damn it, is this womanâs face as thick as a city wall!
Li Beijue frowned so deeply it seemed he could kill a fly, but his thin lips moved, âWhat do you mean, why?â
âWhy donât you like me? Didnât you say last night that you could give it some thought?â Chi Enen, even as she finished speaking, felt her own face growing thicker. There was no way around it, given how capricious he was being.
When Li Beijue thought of last night, he thought of the Starry Necklace she had given him, and thinking of that necklace reminded him of how, over the past several days, she had played him like a monkey. His falcon-like eyes suddenly darkened, and he raised his cold chin, âIâve thought it over, I donât like you.â
âOh.â
Unexpectedly, Chi Enen did not continue to press him as he thought she would. After responding with an âoh,â she appeared to turn to leave.
Li Beijue felt like he had punched a pile of cotton, only to get cut by a stone hidden within it!
Watching that woman head towards the door, he abruptly stood up, kicked over the chair, and in two strides combined into three, he grabbed Chi Enenâs wrist, shouting loudly, âWhere are you going? Did I say you could leave?â
Chi Enen had never encountered anyone so unpredictable, though he used to be capricious as well, he had gotten much better.
Today, his temper seemed even more volatile than before. What exactly was he erupting over? Chi Enen regulated her breathing and, despite the manâs towering rage, remained composed, saying, âI just wanted to go back to sit on the sofa, I wasnât planning on leaving.â
âWerenât you the one who rejected me? I thought Iâd wait until you were done, then ask you again if youâd reconsider liking me.â
⦠I thought Iâd wait until you were done, then ask you again if youâd reconsider liking me.
Li Beijueâs towering anger was instantly extinguished, his breathing caught, and although the color on his handsome face was still somewhat unsightly, âWhat if I still donât like you?â
This question was incredibly embarrassing, tantamount to a second rejection.
Even after being rejected twice, Chi Enen remained calm, flashing a bright smile, âThen Iâll ask again tomorrow.â
ââ¦â
âIf tomorrow doesnât work, Iâll ask the day after tomorrow. One day, you will turn to consider me.â
Li Beijueâs remaining irritation was peculiarly smoothed away, even the anger from realizing last night that Chi Enen was actually Miss Chi seemed shattered, his eyes suddenly becoming complex, yet his thin lips spoke venomously, âWhere do you get the confidence that Iâll ever consider you? Do you know how many women are waiting for me to consider them? Even if you queued up for your next life, you might not reach your turn!â
âThen Iâll just queue until my next next life,â Chi Enen said with good humor.
ââ¦â Li Beijue was momentarily stumped by her retort.
