Li Beijue genuinely didnât think Scarlett was beautiful in any way. In his eyes, women fell into two categoriesâChi Enen and ugly!
Scarlett, at best, was ugly with distinctive features.
Not only was her ugliness distinctive, but she was also downright annoying!
His figure quickly disappeared from everyoneâs line of sight. Two female officers lowered their heads nervously and glanced at the maiden standing in the center. Reluctantly, one of them said, "Your Highness, since Young Master Li has work to attend to, we should head back first."
Scarlettâs eyes sparkled with a brilliance that was nothing like the light of defeat or surrender; it was unmistakably the kind that thrived on setbacks, growing braver with every failure.
She clenched her fist, then abruptly loosened it.
The corner of her mouth still carried a pure, innocent smile. She casually handed the box of red wine to the driver beside her and said softly, "Since weâre here, at the very least, we should visit the Old Master before leaving. Itâs been a long time since Iâve seen Old Master Jue. I wonder if Old Master Jueâs health is doing well?"
The female officers exchanged glances, and both saw the astonishment reflected in each otherâs eyes.
Her Highness wasnât ready to give up.
Judging by her expression, it seemed she had even grown more interested in Young Master Li.
The two were filled with a mix of emotions.
...
Inside Old Master Liâs room, Chi Enen was almost done eating.
Just as she was about to put down her spoon, a servant quickly entered the room and leaned over to whisper something in the Old Masterâs ear. The Old Master first set aside his work, raising his eyebrows slightly. Then, he turned his head and cast a fleeting, enigmatic glance in her direction before giving the servant further instructions.
Chi Enen couldnât shake the feeling that his glance carried a strong sense of amusement. She couldnât figure out what it was he found amusing.
Her instincts told her it likely had something to do with Li Beijue.
Just as she was speculating about what might have happened, Old Master Li suddenly straightened up, hands clasped behind his back, and said to her, "Stay here with me to meet a guest later."
Chi Enen wasnât just surprised; she was downright shocked!
The Old Master had actually invited her to meet a guestâit was completely out of character for him.
Although Chi Enenâs sixth sense warned her there was likely some trick hidden in this, she still maintained her composure and nodded, "Alright."
Old Master Li appreciated her calm and pragmatic demeanor, free of unnecessary words. He didnât elaborate further, instead instructing the servant nearby, "Clear the dining table."
"Yes, Old Master Jue." The servant quickly and efficiently began tidying up the dining table.
Old Master Li, his movements nonchalant, turned his head slightly and shot a glance at Chi Enen from behind. "Come on, follow me to the living room."
His bedroom wasnât a space for just anyone to enter. Today was an exceptionâan exception that wouldnât happen twice!
Saying that, he clasped his hands behind his back and began walking ahead.
Chi Enen kept polite distance, following two steps behind him.
Once downstairs,
The Old Butler stepped forward, handing over the Dragon Head Walking Stick that Old Master Li always preferred. Taking the walking stick, Old Master Li made his way to the sofa in the living room and sat down. Gesturing to the sofa beside him, he said to Chi Enen, "Sit there."
Chi Enen walked over and sat in the spot he had indicated.
Old Master Li poured himself a cup of tea and took a sip before speaking at a leisurely pace, "Do you know who Iâm taking you to meet?"
Chi Enen didnât wait for him to pour her tea. Following his lead, she calmly poured herself a cup and responded honestly, "I donât know."
Old Master Li gave her a complex look. His gaze quickly shifted away, returning to its usual calm and unreadable state. He said with a meaningful tone, "Youâll find out soon enough."
