The moment he said that, the eyes of several playful girls in front lit up so brightly they seemed about to glow, their glances nakedly filled with envy.
Chi Enen hadnât expected him to say that.
After all, she knew his personality better than anyone.
Li Beijue didnât like crowded places, thoroughly disliked lively places, and detested those that were noisy on top of being crowded! This place practically checked all the boxes of what he didnât like.
Yet, he was actually willing to help her wait in line!
He was Li Beijue!
High and mighty, arrogant and untouchable Young Master Li!
His time was worth more than gold. Chi Enen wasnât sure what they were selling here, but whatever it was, it couldnât possibly be more valuable than Li Beijueâs time.
The key point was, he was even enduring all this annoyance to stand in line here.
Li Beijue was undeniably irritated, especially by the girls in front staring at him nonstop, which made him even more annoyed. He ignored the surprised look on Chi Enenâs face, pushed her aside, and impatiently said, "Go rest somewhere nearby, or if you donât feel like standing there, find a place to drink water and sit. Iâll call you when itâs our turn."
As domineering as he was, such consideration was something most men couldnât do.
Let alone him?
Not only did he manage it, but he did it effortlessly, naturally too, even with irritation plainly written in his eyes. However, he didnât move an inch from the spot in line.
It would be a lie to say Chi Enen wasnât moved. She was debating whether to stay and queue with him when suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a drink stall nearby.
Drinks...
She immediately said, "Li Beijue, wait here for me. Iâll be right back."
With that, she hurried off.
The moment she walked away, the man standing tall in the crowd, a striking figure among the masses, instantly radiated an aura of âkeep-awayâ chill.
The cold was comparable to Siberiaâs frigid air.
The few girls ahead of him in the queue, frozen by the icy atmosphere, didnât dare keep sneaking glances at him and quickly turned away to hide their infatuation.
Chi Enen returned briskly from the beverage shop holding two cups of kiwi fruit juice, as Li Beijue had just stepped forward half a pace.
"Here," she handed him a drink, "Have some water."
Li Beijue accepted it, lowered his head to glance at the unattractively green drink, then shifted his gaze to the little lady beside him who was drinking hers with satisfaction. Suddenly, he stretched out his long arm, snatched her drink, and placed the untouched one in her hand. Then, he took a sip and remarked, "Not bad!"
His series of actions was quick and seamless, so natural it seemed perfectly justifiedâas though it didnât matter that they were currently standing on a bustling street, surrounded by people waiting in line both ahead and behind them.
Just like that, he casually took her cup and used the straw sheâd been drinking from to sip the juice.
Chi Enen wasnât nearly as composed as him; her ears grew hot. Without even glancing back, she could feel the gazes directed at her from all around.
Especially the girlsâtheir sharp looks nearly pierced through her like arrows aimed at a target!
To hide her discomfort, she quickly lowered her head and silently took a sip from the drink in her hand.
She had bought the drinks because he was injuredâstaying hydrated was good for his recoveryânot to show affection. But somehow, inadvertently, theyâd ended up staging a full-on public display of affection right on the street...
Li Beijue seemed utterly unaware of how many people were staring at them. Tall, poised, and strikingly handsome, his falcon-like eyes narrowed slightly, "Chi Enen, next time, buy one for me again."
"..." Itâs just ordinary kiwi juice. Was it really that good? She found it pretty average.
As Chi Enenâs ears were flushed with heat, it was finally their turn in line...
