Chapter 355: If the vinegar jar sees this, what will happen?
These two father and son are too strange⦠Forget it, Iâll know what theyâre up to once I get home.
Chi Enen slung her bag over her shoulder and headed out of the Classroomâ¦
She had just reached the Classroom door when someone called out to her, âEnen.â
Han Qifeng extricated himself from a crowd of female students and walked towards her, winking at her as he moved, clearly signaling for help.
âDid you understand todayâs class? If thereâs anything you didnât get, you can ask me.â
Chi Enen looked at the ferocious group of girls behind her and then at Han Qifengâs rare flustered appearance, suppressing a laugh as she said, âHmm, there is indeed something that I didnât quite understand.â
Han Qifeng breathed a sigh of relief and immediately said, âLetâs go, Iâll explain it to you as we walk.â
âOkay.â
Behind him, the girls from the University of Science and Technology looked exceedingly forlorn, âProfessor Hanâ¦â
Han Qifeng turned his head and soothed them with all due grace, âIf this adult education classmate has something she hasnât understood, I need to explain it to her. Itâs getting late, you all should hurry back to your dormitory.â
As if afraid that the girls would cling on and not let go, he quickly left the Classroom with Chi Enen, one after the other.
Only after they had exited the Teaching Building did Han Qifeng thank her, âEnen, thanks for just now. I really didnât know what I would have done without you.â
âItâs nothing, I just said a word on your behalf.â Chi Enen voiced the doubt in her heart, âBy the way, Mr. Han, how come youâre a professor at the University of Science and Technology? I remember you saying you were a doctorâ¦â
âAh, that⦠Iâm actually not really a professor, just helping a friend out, occasionally lecturing on chemistry and biology at the university. Itâs just a title of a specially-appointed professor.â Han Qifeng took the opportunity to explain why he was there tonight as well, âTonight, Professor Lin, who was supposed to teach your class, suddenly fell ill, so they asked me to fill in.â
He wasnât lyingâProfessor Lin, who was supposed to teach Chi Enenâs class, really had a sudden stomachache and couldnât come. But the replacement request was initially for another professor; Han Qifeng happened to be at the school for something else, overheard the conversation, and volunteered to help, which is how he ended up teaching Chi Enenâs class this evening.
He didnât really have any ulterior motives; it was just a coincidence that he heard Professor Lin asking another teacher to substitute, and on a whim, he volunteered because he knew Enen was in the adult education class.
Han Qifeng felt guilty for his little scheme; last time, Chi Enen had made herself very clear to him, and he had decided to back off. But in that moment, he didnât know what he was thinking; the offer to help just slipped out before he even realized what he was saying. Everyone in the office, including Professor Lin and his friends, was surprised. They couldnât understand why he, a visiting professor, would volunteer to teach an adult education class.
âEnen, I hope I didnât cause you any trouble?â
Chi Enen saw the look of guilt on his face and felt awkward, âNo, Mr. Han, youâre overthinking it.â It wasnât like he came to teach just because of her; it was just that another professor got sick. She had nothing to be troubled about.
As they talked, they had already reached the school gate.
Chi Enen stopped and took the initiative to say, âMr. Han, Baby Chi is still waiting for me at home, so Iâll head back first. What about you?â
âIâm heading back too. Letâs do this, Iâll drive you home.â
If he drove her home and some vinegar jar saw them, wouldnât that be asking for trouble?
Chi Enen quickly declined, âNo need to trouble yourself. I can just take a taxi back. Itâs only nine oâclock, not too late.â
âAre you sure?â
â¦
In a roadside corner not too far away, a black Land Rover was parked quietly in the shade of the trees.
