Chapter 286: Is Master Jue asking about Miss Chi?
âWho? What do you want to do?!â Chi Enen, soaked from head to toe, shouted in a wretched fury.
âJust stay put inside!â The speaker deliberately pinched their voice, making it impossible to discern who it was.
The footsteps outside started to move away, growing fainter and fainterâ¦
Drenched all over, Chi Enen no longer cared, desperately pounding on the toilet door, shouting loudly, âLet me out! Let me out!â
However, apart from the incessant echo, no one paid attention to her.
âIs anyone there? Let me outâ¦â
After shouting for over ten minutes, Chi Enenâs throat became so dry and itchy, and every part of her was dripping with water; even though it was summer, the toilet was in a secluded location and couldnât get any sunshine.
The compartment was already chilly, and with the wind blowing in from outside, it was bone-piercingly cold.
âIs anybody there? Is anyone there?â her voice gradually turning hoarse and unpleasant.
There was not a single footstep outside.
Chi Enen wrapped her arms around her knees and slowly squatted down.
It was the first time she felt true despair!
It was after work hours now; it was unlikely anyone would come here to use the toilet. She didnât have her mobile phone, her bag, anythingâshe didnât know if Sister Nan had noticed she hadnât returnedâ¦

Three hours later.
CEO Office on the 33rd floor.
Li Beijue furiously threw the financial report Huo Yi had brought up onto the ground, his falcon-like eyes narrowed as he berated, âIs this the monthly business report theyâve done? Do they still want their jobs? If not, let them pack up and get lost!â
Huo Yi had already heard from Si Chen about the quarrel he had had with Chi Enen, so he was prepared. Facing Li Beijueâs fiery rage, he coolly bent down to pick up the financial report from the ground, placed it back on the office desk, and explained very matter-of-factly, âMaster Jue, in the past, the monthly reports were always published at the end of the month. Thereâs still a week until the end of the month. You asked for it in a rush, so finance could only do a simplified version for now. They are working overtime to finish the formal report⦠â
âI donât want to hear explanations!â He was consistently domineering and forceful to the extreme. The afterglow of the sunset that filtered in through the vast floor-to-ceiling glass window shone on his profile, robust and handsome, hiding no trace of his aristocratic temperament! He undid the buttons on his shirt, loosened his collar, his cold eyebrows knitted in displeasure, his face extremely grim as he declared, âTell them, Iâm giving them one more night. If they donât get it done, everyoneâs out!â
It seemed Master Jueâs temper was indeed very volatile todayâ¦
âYes.â Huo Yi silently took the report he had placed back on the office desk into his embrace, preparing to leave and carry out the task.
Just then, he heard the man in front of the desk ask in a cold, frosty voice, âWhat about her? Has she gone back?â
He certainly wasnât concerned about that two-faced woman! He was just asking casually!
Li Beijue irritably picked up the file on the desk, unaware that he had picked it up upside down, and pretended to scrutinize it intently as if the question he had just asked Huo Yi really was just casual.
Who was Huo Yi but someone who knew exactly who he was asking about. Master Jue was willing to ask about Miss Chi that was a relief. Yet he cautiously inquired, âIs Master Jue referring to Miss Chi?â
â¦
Li Beijue almost smashed the globe on the desk onto his head!
If he wasnât asking about Miss Chi, was he supposed to be asking about Miss Wang, Miss Li?!
Usually Huo Yi was quite clever, so how could he become so dumb at a crucial moment?!
His face darkened; to admit it would mean showing too much concern for that woman. To deny it, and if that wooden-headed Huo Yi really thought he wasnât asking about Chi Enenâ¦
Li Beijue never felt such irritation before, his heart feeling as if it was being squeezed tightly; with a stern face and his thin lips barely touching, he admitted, âWhat a lot of nonsense! Of course, itâs her!â
