After Ruan Jianguo entered the house, Ruan Hao finally spoke to the person on the phone: âThank you, the payment will be transferred to your account tomorrow.â
The other party said something, to which Ruan Hao responded with just a faint acknowledgment before hanging up the phone. He turned off the light and stood by the window, gazing outside.
It was early October, and the weather hadnât cooled yet. The garden was designed with many rock and water features. At night, the area was very quiet, filled only with the sounds of croaking frogs.
Ruan Hao stood at the window, listening to the frog calls. Under the moonlight, his eyes were cold and emotionless.
Just as he was about to turn in and go to sleep, he spotted a figure under the moonlit sky heading toward the neighboring room. Instead of using the door, the person climbed up the wall directly to the second floor.
The person probably hadnât expected Ruan Hao to still be up at this hour, and was momentarily stunned to find him standing by the window.
âXiaoxi,â Ruan Hao called out.
Xiu Xi thought for a moment, changed direction, and climbed toward him instead. With his long limbs, he easily jumped into the window.
Though the night was dim, Ruan Hao could still make out the red stains of blood on Xiu Xiâs cuffs in the moonlight.
He had some suspicions but frowned and asked, âWhat did you do?â
Xiu Xi had no intention of hiding it from him and answered directly, âCrippled his hand.â The very hand that almost drowned Ruan Jiaojiao in the lake.
If it werenât for the fact that this world was governed by laws, he would have killed the man outright. As it stood, simply breaking the manâs hand was letting him off easy.
Though Xiu Xi didnât specify who it was, Ruan Hao knew immediately who he was talking about. His breath caught as he realized the personâs identity, and he sighed inwardly.
Although Xiu Xi was raised by the Ruan Family, his outstanding grades and well-behaved nature meant no one had ever disciplined him.
What he wanted to do, what he planned to do, and what he said were always straightforward.
Now, while he was still young and had not yet entered broader society, this approach might work. But in the adult world, it could create many enemies for him instead.
Ruan Hao said helplessly, âDonât do this again in the future.â
Seeing that Xiu Xi looked like he was about to argue, he added, âCertain things donât always require personal intervention. Remember, the most powerful attributes a man can have are influence and wealth. With these, many will volunteer to handle your matters without you lifting a finger.â
ââ¦â Xiu Xi.
Thinking back to when he found Jiang Bin, who had already been beaten up badly, with a face black and blue, he instantly understood what Ruan Hao meant.
He nodded.
âGo back, take care of those bloody clothes,â Ruan Hao said, gesturing pointedly at Xiu Xiâs bloodstained cuffs.
Xiu Xi nodded again and, to avoid alerting others, climbed back out of the window.
ââ¦â Ruan Hao.
Forget it; theyâre still young and thereâs time to teach them.
When Xiu Xi returned to his room, Ruan Jiaojiao hadnât woken up. She was probably exhausted from the dayâs events and frightened, so she hadnât gotten up at all that night. She usually needed to get up once, but not tonight.
Xiu Xi showered and disposed of the bloody clothes before returning to bed. He wrapped his arms around her, but almost immediately upon touching her body, his face suddenly changed!
