Butâ
Lu Zishu, who hadnât fully understood yet, didnât get this at all.
He looked at Yang Men as if she were an idiot and bluntly said, "Yang Men, are you out of your mind? Canât you wipe your own chair? Your pants are white, mine are black, so does that mean I have to wash them? Whatâs wrong with you?" After saying that, he turned his head away, dismissing Yang Menâs pouting as a fit of madness.
Ruan Jiaojiao, who was sipping red date tea, almost spat it out. To cover up her loss of composure, she quickly turned to Yang Tao and asked, "Xiaotiao, do you want some tea? This is red date tea, my grandma says itâs the best for girls."
Yang Tao was just thirsty and also wanted to suppress her amusement, so she eagerly nodded, got up, and went to the back table to grab a cup.
Ruan Jiaojiao poured her a cup, and the two clinked cups in agreement. As they sipped, they both saw the mirth in each otherâs eyes.
Yang Menâs face instantly turned crimson, and even her eyes turned red. Unable to bear it any longer, she stomped her foot, pointed at Lu Zishu, and yelled, "Lu Zishu, you bastard!" Then she ran off.
"Hey, arenât you taking your fried noodles..." Yang Men dashed off, leaving the fried noodle vendor anxious. Heâd already made five servings, and now she just decided not to take them, isnât that unfair?
"Uncle, go ahead and make them, since she doesnât want them, weâll take them." Ruan Lei responded.
"Oh, okay." The vendor smiled with relief, knowing that he couldnât afford to lose money as a small business, so he was relieved to see someone wanted them.
After Yang Men left, the five of them felt much more at ease. Lu Zishu asked Yang Tao directly, "How do you have such a weird cousin? Constantly boasting about Changling, looks down on our small place, whatâs she even transferring here for, to suffer?"
Although Lu Zishu didnât think much of their small town, it was still their hometown where they grew up. They could complain about it, but couldnât allow others to show a hint of disdain.
Yang Tao pouted, "She grew up in Changling and considers herself a city person." She was already annoyed, but since sheâs a cousin, and family had asked her to look after her, she couldnât go too far even if she disliked her. However, todayâs incident had nothing to do with her.
"Enough, enough, why talk about her." Yang Tao impatiently waved her hand, a fine layer of sweat forming on her nose. But she couldnât help but drink a sip of the aromatic red date tea and asked Ruan Jiaojiao, "Jiaojiao, are you still a day student in high school?"
"Not really, Iâll be staying at school. My mom has a house there," Ruan Jiaojiao answered and then took a sip of the hot tea.
High school wasnât as strict as middle school, where every student had to board. Generally, students who went to high school aimed to go to university, so they naturally wouldnât want to waste time on things that didnât matter, hence usually chose to board.
But families like Ruan Jiaojiaoâs, who lived so close, usually opted to go home.
However, Ruan Lei didnât. He currently lived in the city, close to Ruan Jiaojiaoâs house, and the one-way trip to school was just over twenty minutes. But Du Qing and Ruan Jianjun were both busy with work, and aside from him, there was no one else at home, so he chose to board.
Lu Zishu, being good friends with him, naturally boarded as well when Ruan Lei did, so he didnât attend as a day student either.
