Chapter 282: Keira, Please Don't!

The two of them took a private room. Keira ordered some food and drinks, but before the dishes could arrive, the waiter brought their wine, and the door to the room opened.
In that instant, both Lynn and the person at the door froze.
Triss asked, shocked, "What are you doing here?"
"Be a little more polite. He's the help I specifically brought in to solve our problem." Keira picked up her wine glass, then wrinkled her nose and dumped the contents. "What in the hell is this? I absolutely refuse to believe this is 'Vizima Champion.' This horse piss smells worse than my socks after wearing boots for three days straight."
"Keira!"
Triss turned her face toward her colleague, a rare flash of anger on her beautiful face. "I told you not to drag him into this! You promised me!"
"I did, didn't I? So," Keira smirked mischievously, "the person standing here is not Lynn, the witcher from the School of the Wolf, but a bounty hunter named Li Wei, who's an expert at tracking."
"Do you take me for a fool, Triss? I know how much you care about your little lover. Would I be an idiot to risk your wrath just to curry favor with Foltest?"
"He needs an expert to help him track down those sons of bitches from Redania who've infiltrated our borders. He never said he needed a witcher. And who's to say a bounty hunter can't be good at tracking?"
Triss's mind finally calmed down. She realized that Keira seemed to, or probably, had a plan. "You have a solution?"
Keira scoffed, setting her glass down. "No matter what else you say about Vizima, it's still the capital of Temeria. What can't you buy here? Tomorrow, I'll go buy him a fitted suit of plate armor."
"As long as he's wearing plate armor and a closed helmet, and takes off those two swords from his back, who would know he's a witcher?"
After hearing Keira's simple but highly feasible plan, a now-calm Triss realized that it was indeed a viable solution. Her previous panic had clouded her judgment; she had only considered that involving Lynn would not only cause him trouble but also get the entire witcher community into a mess. But now, listening to Keira... she was right. If Lynn were simply given a different outfit to make him look less like a witcher, the problem would be easily solved.
At that moment, Keira deliberately leaned in close to Lynn and asked provocatively, "Plate armor is a lot heavier than the Grandmaster Wolf armor you're wearing right now. Won't you be crushed by the weight? Should I check you out first, to see if you're strong enough?"
Triss, whose expression had just begun to soften, instantly turned pale. Keira's intentions were as subtle as a cowbell. How could she not know what Keira was truly up to?
Sorceresses were open-minded, and they generally separated sex from love. Triss didn't mind Lynn gaining a little "experience" with other people. But the key thing was that she was right there.
"Kei...ra..." Triss deliberately drew out her name.
"Oh, come on, don't be angry, Triss. I was just joking."
"Hmph!" Triss turned her face away.
Only then did Lynn find an opening to interject. "Lady Keira, you don't have to worry about that. Strong soldiers can fight in plate armor, and a witcher's carrying capacity is far greater than a normal person's."
The mutations from the Trial of the Grasses enhanced a witcher's physical abilities in every way. Aside from the School of the Cat, even those who weren't from the strength-focused School of the Bear could fight in plate armor.
Keira clapped her hands and laughed. "Good, you're full of spirit. Since you say so, Lynn, I'm relieved. Triss, we should go."
"Huh? But I just got here. I haven't even had a chance to sit down."
Keira saw the way Triss was looking at Lynn; it was as if her eyes were dripping with affection. They were both taught by the same master, so how could Keira not know what Triss was thinking?
She pushed Triss on the back, nudging her toward the door. "He just arrived too, but we have work to do tomorrow that might take all day. Even if you're not tired, he is and needs to rest early."
"But I..."
"Triss, this isn't your home, and it's not Novigrad. Making a scene here would be bad for appearances. You don't want people to find out, do you?"
Triss couldn't argue. She could only give Lynn a look that promised a future together before reluctantly leaving with Keira.
Early the next morning, Keira came over, bringing with her a suit of plate armor with a fully enclosed helmet. With Keira's help, Lynn put it on.
He had to admit, the plate armor wasn't much heavier than chainmail or brigandine. In fact, because of the design, the weight was distributed across his entire body, making it feel even lighter. Any heavy armor would be a bit cumbersome for swinging or stabbing, and it certainly couldn't compare to leather or cloth armor. But with the right footwork and movement, there were no blind spots in his attacks.
When Lynn first put on the armor, he did feel a little heavy, but he quickly got used to it. Wearing this armor to fight monsters would be unsuitable, as monster hunting was more about dodging attacks than blocking them. However, for a battlefield, it was perfect. Based on his own experience, he believed that aside from witchers from the School of the Cat, those from other schools should be able to adapt to the weight of plate armor. And for the School of the Bear, who were already accustomed to heavy armor, there would probably be no hindrance at all. If he were to form a witcher army for the battlefield in the future, heavy armor would be a must.
But that was a story for another time.
Keira stepped back and looked him up and down. "Hmm, not bad. See for yourself." She snapped her fingers, and a curtain of water appeared out of thin air, standing like a mirror in front of Lynn and reflecting his image. Clad in plate armor and a closed helmet, there was no way anyone could tell he was a witcher.
"If you want to eat or drink, all you have to do is lift the visor of your helmet... like this. It's simple, right? A truly brilliant design."
"I've already spoken with Foltest. We'll leave now. If we're lucky, we might find those damned bastards today."
Using a portal spell, Keira and Lynn were transported to the outskirts of Vizima. Not far away was the capital of Temeria, Vizima City. A dozen hand-picked elite soldiers were already waiting on horseback. When the portal's light flared, the soldiers dismounted and knelt on one knee in salute.
"Lady Keira, by His Majesty's command, we are at your service."
Keira, stepping out of the portal, nodded in satisfaction. "This is Li Wei, a bounty hunter who's an expert at tracking. With him, we'll surely find traces of those Redanian bastards."
"Everyone, mount up," Keira said, climbing onto a horse that a soldier had led over for her. "Let's go."
