Chapter 79

Zhu Yeqing moved closer to Chen Fan and leaned against him, and this time, she didn’t pull away.
“Young Master, what’s wrong? Is that man ungrateful?”
“Seems like I don’t interest him. I’m curious if he’ll end up siding with Ye Aotian.”
“Want me to kill him?”
“What for? Your hands should be serving me, not killing people. Always talking about killing—it’s no good.”
Blushing, Zhu Yeqing leaned in and kissed him, prompting the onlooking girls to burst into laughter and cheers.
The usual Zhu Yeqing would simply work or protect him, and only seek comfort after Chen Fan had been humiliated or beaten, in scenes where she ended up in tears after a night together. But this initiative?
Seeing the playful look in Zhu Yeqing’s eyes, Chen Fan chickened out and said, “Excuse me, I need some fresh air. Have fun on your own.”
The room burst into laughter. Who would’ve thought Chen Fan had a shy side?
Anna gathered a few of the girls and said, “I’ve got a little secret. Make sure to spread this around, alright?”
The girls looked at Anna, puzzled.
“I’ll let you in on something: Chen Fan … is a virgin.”
The room went silent. Zhu Yeqing also froze. She knew this, but this kind of thing couldn’t be mentioned! It would ruin Chen Fan’s whole villainous persona.
“Are you kidding? Young Master Chen lacks nothing when it comes to women …”
Anna replied, “Come on, ladies. We’ve all been with men. You should be able to tell if he’s a virgin, right? Or do I need to teach you?”
The girls thought about it and realized Anna might be right.
“So, Chen Fan … he really must love Lin Qingyue.”
Anna took out some cash and said, “Tomorrow, I want all of Qincheng to know. Understood?”
The girls cheered, promising to spread the word.
In the bathroom, Chen Fan yawned, lit a cigarette, and prepared to relieve himself.
Just then, someone approached and stood silently beside him. Chen Fan glanced over to see a woman in a red trench coat, looking at him intently.
Not overthinking it, Chen Fan finished, turned to leave, and went to wash his hands. The woman, eating a lollipop, continued to watch him with a smile. As he dried his hands, she moved closer. Chen Fan lit another cigarette, and she leaned in even further.
“Have you lost your mind? I’ll kill you if you keep staring at me. Do you believe it?”
“Oh, I’m so scared! Look, I’m trembling!” she mocked, unfazed.
Her appearance was cute, with a loli-like face and a high ponytail, favoring red attire. She was strong and very skilled, a thrill-seeker who rode her motorcycle at night without headlights. And despite looking young, she was actually in her forties—older than Jin Lan.
“Who are you?”
“Tao Xiaoyao, an assassin. Someone paid me to kill you. I refused.”
7, watching from a distance, almost choked on his drink.
Though Tao Xiaoyao was listed as an assassin, she had long since retired. Twenty years ago, she made her name by wiping out an entire family with a trident military dagger. Known as the “She-Devil” or “Oriental Demon,” she now seemed more like an ageless fairy than a killer.
If she really intended to kill Chen Fan, there was no way he’d escape. Chen Fan knew of her well—she’d nearly killed him multiple times. At first, she was just doing her job, but eventually, because her daughter got involved with Ye Aotian, she ended up on his side.
Tao Xiaoyao had her own storyline with Ye Aotian, tied to a subplot involving his medical company.
“You … an assassin? Are you here for me?”
She’d watched this drama for so long and couldn’t resist showing herself. To her surprise, he remained so calm.
Standing at 173cm, Tao Xiaoyao was quite proud of her loli looks, despite her actual age.
“Didn’t I tell you? I refused.”
“Oh, then who hired you?”
“The Nie family. You killed their son, and they’re afraid the Chen family won’t handle it on their own, so they called me in.”
7, who was watching, laughed until his stomach hurt.
Known as the “Night Demon,” Tao Xiaoyao had a reputation for killing any man she spoke with extensively. If she could chat with someone peacefully, they were truly special.
“Interesting. But aren’t assassins supposed to keep quiet about their profession?”
“True, but I’m a special case. Semi-retired, you know. Little brother, how about becoming my boss? I’m very well-behaved.”
Chen Fan turned to leave, but she called out, “If you leave, little brother, I’ll be sad. My heart … it hurts.”
“I hope it hurts so bad you die. If you collapse from a heart attack, I won’t save you. I’ll spit on your corpse.”
A dagger whizzed toward Chen Fan’s face. He frowned, considered, then lowered his head.
“You dare to make a move on me? You just wait—I’m going to kill you.”
Tao Xiaoyao chuckled, unbothered, and replied, “Even your father would be cautious around me. Are you sure you want to kill me?”
“Don’t push it. I’m warning you.”
She tossed him a phone. “Here, a call for you.”
Chen Fan answered, “Hello?”
“Xiao Fan, did she arrive yet?”
“Dad, are you talking about … Tao Xiaoyao?”
“How dare you call her by name! Show respect; she’s the ‘Night Demon.’ I hired her to protect you. The Ling family’s got strong allies, and you need support too.”
“Father, I can handle things with Ye Aotian on my own.”
“I know. She won’t interfere unless the Ling family’s elders get involved. She’s there as a balancing force, a safeguard. Treat her well—I paid handsomely for her services.”
Looking at Tao Xiaoyao standing before him, Chen Fan felt an overwhelming urge to strangle her.
Tao Xiaoyao waved her hand, gesturing him over. “I’ve got something interesting to show you. Wanna see?”
“What is it?”
She pulled out her phone and started a video. “Take a look. Purely coincidental.”
Chen Fan opened the video and was left utterly shocked by what he saw.
Suddenly, he found himself feeling sympathetic toward the protagonist, Ye Aotian.
Ye Aotian, the protagonist, was officially being cheated on.
