Morning.
âHuh?â Liyue opened her eyes, immediately noticing that her surroundings were unfamiliar. She sat up abruptly.
It took her a moment to realise she was no longer living in a crevice or a pile of rocks out in the wild.
âItâs been so long since Iâve slept this well,â Liyue said as she stretched, her silver eyes curiously scanning the room.
The room was simply furnished. Apart from a bed, the walls were adorned with swords and knives hanging from spider silk. There was nothing else.
âSo this is a manâs room? Doesnât seem all that special.â
Sitting at the edge of the bed, Liyue swung her legs while glancing repeatedly at the wall covered in weapons.
Rightâaside from that wall, there really wasnât anything notable about the room.
After sitting idly for a while, she got up and left the room.
Outside, she saw Mu Liang sketching something at the table, while Mino was stirring breakfast in a pot.
âGood morning,â Liyue greeted.
Mu Liang looked up and asked gently, âHow did you sleep last night?â
âNot bad,â Liyue replied, her cheeks tinged with red.
âGood to hear. Come and have breakfast,â Mu Liang said, waving her over.
Mino brought the pot to the table and handed out utensils.
Since there werenât enough wooden bowls, they used metal lunchboxes instead. Each person received a portion of meat soup and a large piece of roasted meat.
âDonât just stand there. Eat up,â Mu Liang said, noticing the two girls staring at him without moving.
He took a sip of the soup to set an example, prompting the girls to start eating too.
âAh~â Liyue drank the soup and let out a satisfied sigh.
âAh~â Mino, not to be outdone, gulped hers down enthusiastically.
Mu Liang smiled as he watched the bunny-eared girl, who seemed to have turned the meal into a competition, while he leisurely chewed on his roasted meat.
âMu Liang, arenât you planning to move today?â Liyue asked after setting down her bowl and licking her lips.
âYouâve taken so much from Bloodbeard. Theyâre bound to track you down.â
âYou think they can find us?â Mu Liang asked, swallowing a bite of meat.
âWith you living this close to them, of course they can,â Liyue replied, rolling her eyes.
âMaybe,â Mu Liang said, smirking.
He took a sip of soup before asking, âLiyue, do you know the way to the Moon Lake Tribe?â
He had promised Mino he would go there and felt curious about how a tribe of thousands managed to sustain itself.
âAre you planning to move to the Moon Lake Tribe?â Liyue asked, her silver brows furrowing.
âIs there an issue with going to the Moon Lake Tribe?â
Mu Liang noticed her expression and felt as though she didnât want him to go there.
âIf it were before, thereâd be no issue.â
Her expression turned serious. âBut now that you have the Crystal Fish, going there is dangerous.â
âThe people at the Moon Lake Tribe know I have the Crystal Fish?â Mu Liang asked, surprised.
âThey donât know yet, but they will,â Liyue said, her face clouded with worry.
She collected her thoughts and explained, âLarge tribes are sure to have spies in the thievesâ gang. Theyâll soon learn that Bloodbeardâs Crystal Fish was stolen.â
âSo youâre saying someone can track the Crystal Fishâs location through me?â
Mu Liang instantly understood her concern.
âYes,â Liyue nodded repeatedly.
âSome sort of mutant ability?â Mu Liang glanced at Mino, whose bunny ears twitched nervously.
Hearing that the Moon Lake Tribe might be dangerous, she had completely lost her appetite.
âYes,â Liyue replied, biting into her roasted meat.
Through her mouthful, she said, âYour priority now should be moving. The Bloodbeard thieves also have mutants who can track trails.â
After swallowing, her expression turned solemn. âWhen Bloodbeard returns, heâll definitely bring people to hunt you down.â
âMoving isnât hard. Just tell me the route to the Moon Lake Tribe,â Mu Liang said with a faint smile.
âMu Liang, letâs not go to the Moon Lake Tribe,â Mino said, tugging on his arm with her small hands.
She pleaded, âLetâs move somewhere farther away so Bloodbeardâs gang canât catch up to us.â
âThatâd be difficult unless you travel light,â Liyue chimed in softly.
Glancing at the hall filled with items, she figured theyâd have to abandon at least 90% of their belongings to outrun Bloodbeardâs gang.
âItâs not like weâre taking the Crystal Fish to the Moon Lake Tribe.â
Mu Liang patted Minoâs hand reassuringly. âDonât forget, we have Little Xuanwu with us.â
His reasons for visiting the Moon Lake Tribe extended beyond Minoâs requestâhe wanted to explore other ways to obtain ferocious beast crystals.
Last night, the rock-armoured turtle had evolved to Level 4, using up another 1,000 evolution points.
Now, Mu Liang was once again worried about collecting more points.
âBut⦠the Bloodbeard thieves will chase us,â Mino said, her pretty face filled with concern.
Mino was easily contented. If it meant avoiding danger, sheâd rather not visit the Moon Lake Tribe, believing thereâd be opportunities to go later.
âDonât worry. Iâll make sure they wonât dare to pursue us again,â Mu Liang said, his black eyes flashing coldly.
âDonât underestimate Bloodbeard. I suspect heâs at least a Tier Four Enhancer,â Liyue warned.
âAnd what tier are you?â Mu Liang asked curiously, seeing the white-haired girl as a useful benchmark for gauging strength.
âIâm a Tier Four Archer,â Liyue said, raising her chin with a hint of pride.
After a brief pause, she added modestly, âIn close combat, Iâd be about equal to a Tier Three Enhancer.â
âWell, thatâs impressive,â Mu Liang said, though his twitching eye betrayed his amusement. He felt he could easily take her down with one hand.
âWhat do you mean by
???â Liyueâs forehead creased, finding his tone oddly infuriating.
Mu Liang chose not to answer, instead smiling as he asked, âWhich direction is the Moon Lake Tribe?â
âOver there,â Liyue said, puffing her cheeks as she pointed in a direction.
âYouâll be our guide for the journey,â Mu Liang declared, deciding she was the best choice for the task.
Seeing that she couldnât dissuade him, Liyue sighed and asked, âWhat are you planning to take to the Moon Lake Tribe?â
âEverything, of course,â Mu Liang replied matter-of-factly.
â???â Liyue stared at him, dumbfounded by his sheer greed.
