Chapter 646: Six hundred and forty-four, exterminate Chapter 646: Six hundred and forty-four, exterminate “Ghosts my ass!” Liang Qianjun glared angrily at his subordinate and looked ahead, but because of the blood covering his eyes, his vision was somewhat unclear. He couldn’t make out the face of the person standing in front of the car, but he was certain it was a woman.
Wiping the blood from his face, Liang Qianjun finally got a clear look at the woman. Wasn’t she part of the same group as that little wench who smashed his car? She had some nerve showing up on her own.
He stepped out of the car and gave Luo Shu a once-over, leering with a sleazy smile, “Seeing as you’re so pretty, I might be willing to show some mercy. But well, heh heh heh…” This little wench was quite the looker, keeping her as a mistress wouldn’t be too bad.
Luo Shu snorted lightly, her sexy red lips curving into a cold, cruel smile as she raised her hand and a flame appeared in her palm.
The smile on Liang Qianjun’s face froze instantly, and he felt a chill rising from the soles of his feet, causing his legs to tremble uncontrollably, “Are you… are you human or a ghost…” If she was human, how could she possibly have flames emerging from her palm?
Luo Shu couldn’t be bothered with any more nonsense. With a wave of her hand, the fire in her hand swirled and soared skyward like a serpent, carrying a terrifyingly hot temperature as it swept towards Liang Qianjun and his subordinates.
Liang Qianjun tried to run, but his feet were as though glued to the ground, unable to move even an inch. He could only watch in horror as the ball of flames rolled towards him. At that moment, a tide of regret swelled in his heart. He wanted to beg for mercy, but the flames had already reached him, and with a ripping pain, his world plunged into darkness.
The flames swept over everything, and all the people and the car vanished in an instant, as if they had never been there at all.
Withdrawing the flames, Luo Shu stepped forward and soon disappeared into the night.
The gentle night breeze wafted through, stirring the branches of trees and blades of grass by the roadside, with only the chirping of unknown insects in the bushes. No one could imagine that such a terrifying incident had occurred here.
Zhao Jing finished processing the documents in his hand, glanced at his watch, and yawned wearily, noticing it was almost midnight. Because of an arms deal, he had been working late into the night for the past few days.
“Someone come!” He stood up and stretched his body.
The door opened gently as a middle-aged man entered and said respectfully, “Master Zhao!”
“Bring in the ginseng soup,” Zhao Jing ordered.
“Yes!” The middle-aged man responded and turned to fetch the soup.
“Wait! Have the people we sent out returned?” Zhao Jing called the middle-aged man back, remembering Liang Qianjun’s matter.
“Not yet,” the middle-aged man shook his head.
Zhao Jing frowned, “They haven’t returned?” By all accounts, Liang Qianjun should have already reached Yunbei City, and the people he sent out should have come back by now.
“Someone has already been sent to check on the situation,” said the middle-aged man, who had dispatched another subordinate upon the others’ delayed return.
Zhao Jing nodded slightly and waved his hand at the middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man exited the study and headed downstairs.
As he reached downstairs, he saw a panic-stricken subordinate rushing in, “Steward Li, something terrible has happened! They’ve all gone mad!”
The middle-aged man looked displeased at the frantic subordinate and scolded sternly, “What’s with all the noise! What exactly happened?”
“The people we sent out have all gone mad.” The subordinate shivered at the memory.
“Tell me what happened,” the middle-aged man demanded with a furrowed brow.
“When I got there, they were crying, screaming, and making a commotion, constantly chanting about snakes, ghosts, and monsters coming to eat them. I tried to wake them, but it was of no use,” the subordinate recounted with lingering fear. Hearing those things in the dead of night was truly terrifying, and the fact that they had all gone mad together surely meant they’d encountered something frightening.
As the middle-aged man listened, his frown deepened. He’d never heard of such an incident before. After some thought, he said, “Let’s go up and see Master Zhao.”
Zhao Jing heard the knock and responded without delay, “Come in!”
The middle-aged man, along with the subordinate, entered the room and stopped three steps in front of Zhao Jing to report, “Master Zhao! Something has happened to the people we sent out.”
Zhao Jing’s expression tightened, and his sharp eyes turned towards the two men, “What happened?”
The middle-aged man turned to the subordinate, who quickly recounted the events.
Zhao Jing thought for a moment, then walked to his desk and picked up the phone to make a call.
Soon a lazy voice, heavy with sleepiness, came through, “This is the Liang Family. Who are you looking for…”
“Has your Young Master Liang set off?” Zhao Jing asked straightaway.
The person on the other end glanced at the clock on the wall and considered the time, “The young master left almost four hours ago.”
Zhao Jing set the phone down and looked at the middle-aged man and subordinate, “Old Li, send someone to Teng City to check the road for any traces. You take a team to Welcome Friends Hostel and bring those subordinates back.”
“Yes!” Both the middle-aged man and subordinate agreed and left the study.
Zhao Jing sank onto the sofa, massaging his temples wearily. The situation was peculiar, and if his guess was correct, Liang Qianjun might have already met his demise.
If his suspicions were indeed correct, then he absolutely must not provoke the individuals staying at the Welcome Friends Hostel. Among them, there could very possibly be the sort of people from the legends—True Cultivators.
The Zhao Family wasn’t just any ordinary family; they were an Ancient Martial Family, and he was an Ancient Martial Artist. That’s also why the Zhao Family had been able to dominate Yunbei City for a hundred years and still stand unshaken. He had heard his father mention that the Ancient Martial Families were not the strongest; above them were the fearsome True Cultivators.
With just a wave of a hand or a single thought, a True Cultivator could make someone vanish from the world without leaving a trace.
Neither his father nor he had ever seen a True Cultivator, so he doubted their existence in this world. However, this incident had given rise to some suspicion in his mind.
Zhao Jing leaned back on the sofa and closed his eyes. All he could do now was wait for the outcome.
