Qiao Sang gazed at the black-purple, star-shaped beast floating in midair with a serious expression.
Zhao Chuanyu was a top contender for this year's National Campus Beast Mastering Championship, not just because of his Crimson Rush Dragon but also due to the Venomous Starfish.
However, the most troublesome aspect of the Venomous Starfish was neither its toxins nor its psychic abilities, but rather its Chemical Gas Mutation trait.
When a beast with the Chemical Gas Mutation trait was present, all other beasts' traits would be nullified or rendered ineffective.
In other words, against the Venomous Starfish, Lubao's Ice Xilu traits would be completely disabled.
The Match Begins.
The referee's whistle blew.
"Ao ao!"
The Venomous Starfish immediately ascended, spinning at high speed. As it spun, thick black gas spread like storm clouds, rapidly covering the battlefield.
"Lu."
At the same time, Lubao lifted her head and let out a call.
The temperature in the arena plummeted.
Before a single snowflake even appeared, Zhao Chuanyu had already realized what Ice Xilu was trying to do.
He didn’t give any commands.
Everything was under control.
The Venomous Starfish lacked instant-kill moves, but its perfected Toxic Fog could linger for five whole minutes.
Once released, if Ice Xilu inhaled it, it would immediately become poisoned.
In a poisoned state, Ice Xilu would struggle to attack unless it used Healing Light.
Even if it healed itself, the toxic mist would still be present.
As soon as it recovered, it would be poisoned again.
This cycle would repeat until its energy was drained.
From what Zhao Chuanyu had observed in Qiao Sang’s previous battles, Ice Xilu's Iceflower Seal couldn’t last five minutes.
As long as he endured it, Ice Xilu would eventually be defeated.
Qiao Sang made a mistake by not stopping the Venomous Starfish from releasing so much poison.
The Venomous Starfish, however, instinctively lowered its altitude as the frigid air grew more intense.
Just then, a thick Water Gun shot straight at it!
The Venomous Starfish reacted swiftly, converting its poison mist into Toxic Sludge to counter.
Water splashed as the two attacks collided, mixing with the toxic air and spreading across the ground.
Zhao Chuanyu glanced at the blackened sky, satisfied.
"Light Wall."
The Venomous Starfish's eyes glowed blue, and a protective energy barrier formed above it.
By now, the battlefield was completely covered in black mist.
Zhao Chuanyu looked over at Ice Xilu then suddenly froze.
The blue beast was enveloped in rushing water, dashing toward the Venomous Starfish at high speed!
"Ao ao!"
Startled, the Venomous Starfish instantly teleported ten meters away, causing its Light Wall to vanish.
At that moment, snowflakes began falling through the toxic mist.
Zhao Chuanyu furrowed his brows.
Something was wrong, but he wasn’t panicking yet.
If the mist wasn’t enough, he could use an even stronger poison attack.
He had to make Ice Xilu succumb.
"Light Wall!"
As snow and toxic mist mingled, Ice Xilu surged forward in its water form.
When it was five meters away from the Venomous Starfish, Zhao Chuanyu’s eyes flashed.
"Venom Impact!"
Qiao Sang’s heart clenched at the command.
But she quickly calmed down, her trust in Lubao was unwavering.
Like a high-speed torpedo, Lubao rocketed toward the Venomous Starfish.
Just as it was about to strike, the Venomous Starfish opened its mouth, dispelling the Light Wall and unleashing a wave of corrosive black venom.
...
The venom burned through Lubao’s watery shield, sizzling against her scales.
The poison spread rapidly, leaving small corroded patches on her body.
Lubao clenched her teeth, enduring the pain.
The Venomous Starfish was slammed into the ground, leaving a dent in the arena.
Lubao, now battered, also collapsed.
Snowflakes mixed with black gas continued to fall.
Though the Venomous Starfish was now covered in intricate Ice Flowers, the toxic mist slowed their formation.
"Healing Light!"
"Light Wall!"
Qiao Sang and Zhao Chuanyu shouted at the same time.
Lubao took a deep breath, as if she had been holding it in the entire match.
Then, she glowed blue, healing herself.
Zhao Chuanyu’s mind clicked.
Realization dawned on him, followed by frustration.
He never expected Qiao Sang to counter his poison mist with such a ridiculously simple method!
Now, Ice Xilu could just heal itself and continue holding its breath, making the Venomous Starfish’s last attack almost pointless.
Zhao Chuanyu’s face darkened.
