Abstract. Five new genera and six new species from Costa Rica, Brazil, Ecuador,
Peru, and Bolivia are described in the tribe Meropachydini: Alcocerniella limonensiSy
Juaristiella pacificae, Larraldiella tertninalis, Possaniella oblata, Soteloniella perpar-
vula, and Soteloniella scutellata. Menardus Distant is proposed as a newjuniorsynonym
of Peranthus Stal, and Menardus notatus (Walker) is transferred to the genus Peranthus,
resulting on the new combination Peranthus notatus (Walker). A key to the 11 known
genera of Meropachydini is given.
Key Words: Insecta, Heteroptera, Coreidae, Meropachydinae, new genera, new species.

Stal (1867) provided a key to the genera The new genera belong to the tribe Mer-
of Meropachydinae, and later Stal (1870) opachydini which are recognized by the
listed species included in each genus. Dis- elongate scutellum which extends beyond
