This article examines the relationship between human resource management (HRM) practices, business strategy, and firm performance in the Taiwanese steel industry. It analyzes how six HRM practices (training, teamwork, compensation, HR planning, performance appraisal, and employment security) relate to business strategy and impact firm performance. Survey responses from 236 managers at steel firms show that HRM practices and business strategies are positively related to firm performance, and integrating HRM practices with business strategies also positively impacts performance.
