Srxnt of the key information in this book came from interviewees -
rclentists, politicians, diplomats, businessmen and intelligence agents -
who did not wish to be acknowledged, for understandable reasons. Several
were too close to the key characters; others were bound by secrecy codes,
rrttl the law in their countries. I spoke with and interviewed six members
ol'the Rothschild family, all of whom were courteous, despite the subject
rn$tt(.r at times being awkward to discuss. Special thanks are due to the
lrury Honourable Miriam Rotlschild, and Lady Tess Rothschild, who

tontacted me when she learned was writing a book concerning her
hurband.
I anr grateful particularly to my contacts in British Intelligence, three of
whrrm have been helpful since our first meetings in London in 1974 before
nry initial trip to Russia and the Ukraine. As the book explains, they were
rerl'ronsible for leading me to a key revelation in 1978, which finally fitted

l1l().t, including Yuri Modin, Michael Bagdonov and Madimir Stanchenko.
