Preface
The13thInternationalS-BPMONEConference(S-BPMONE2022)washeldatKarl-
sruhe Institute of Technology from June 29 to July 1, 2022. After a pandemic-related

Shaped?”.Wethink,withthisconference,wewereabletoresumetheinnovativethread

processmanagement.
The progressive and, above all, increasingly rapid digitalization of companies and
societies poses fundamental questions about modelability and the use of technology.
Businessprocessesarecentraltothisbecausetheyencapsulatethebehaviorofpeople

tations.Therefore,theconferenceposedthequestionofthevalueofdigitalizationand
models with the overall theme “Dynamic Digital Design of Everything – Shaping or
BeingShaped?”.
The conference provided an open discussion forum for the fundamental issues of
modelingofprocesses.Researchersandpractitionersaddressedinnovativeapproaches
on how organizations and societies can support their stakeholders to design processes
andthusparticipatemoreinthevaluecreationframedbydigitaltechnologies.
The call for papers covered the full spectrum of innovative process management
