Pero Tebas no se adhirió a la causa democrática, y pactó con los persas y los ideales de la vieja aristocracia.La de Píndaro es una poesía densa, de imágenes audaces, expresada en piezas de encargo muy formalizadas. Aunque no nos ha llegado el acompañamiento original de la letra (la música, la danza), estos versos siguen conmoviéndonos por la fuerza de sus imágenes y la intensidad de su inspiración.
