1. OVERVIEW
NFAC’sresponsibilityasanHPACcomponentisthree-fold. First,itmustpresentan
interactivegraphicaluserinterface(GUI)bywhichuserscanviewandeditthedefinitionofan
NFACincident. Second,foreachincidentdefined,NFACmustinteractwithRTHtocreate
activitytableinputsandassociatethemwithpseudomaterialstobetransportedviaSCIPUFF.
Third,NFACmustcreateSCIPUFFreleaseswiththeassociatedpseudomaterialsfortransport
anddispersion. ThegoalofNFACunittestingistoverifythattheinputsitproducesarecorrect
forthesourcetermormodeldefinitionasspecifiedbytheuserviatheGUI.AsshowninFig. 1,
NFACcontains22distinctsourcetermmodels,allofwhicharetested.

2. TESTAPPROACH
Testingisdividedintotwopaths: automatedtestsandinteractivetests. SixautomatedJUnit4
testsuitescomprising87individualtestshavebeenbuiltandaredescribedindetailbelow. Each
individualtestincludesoneormoreassertionschallengingspecificresultsorconsequences
designedtoexerciseakeyfunctionalcapability. Thegranularityofthecapabilitybeingtested
variesbytestfromanindividualcomponentmethodtoanaggregateorcompositetestinvolving
multiplecomponentsandmethods. Successorfailureofautomatedtestsisanoutputofthetest
framework. Theyarerunasunattendedbatchprocesses.
