Convincere noi stessi che qualcosa è troppo difficile da realizzare, che implichi un rischio maggiore di quello che siamo in grado di affrontare, che è fondamentale quanto tempo ci metteremo e che le critiche dei parenti saranno pressanti, sono soltanto scuse avanzate per evitare di agire. Abbiamo sicuramente la capacità di far parlare il nostro io e di scegliere in che cosa credere e che cosa è più giusto per noi, e proprio il fatto di essere stati in un certo modo per tutta la vita ci deve incoraggiare a dire basta e ad abbandonare quelle convinzioni che crediamo facciano parte di noi e che invece sono la corazza che ci tiene imprigionati. Ci sentiamo paurosi o timidi, ci guardiamo allo specchio e ci vediamo fuori forma: se davvero è questo quello che siamo, possiamo cambiare. I sette principi del paradigma di Dyer – consapevolezza, allineamento, vivere il presente, contemplazione, disponibilità, passione, compassione – ci consentiranno di dialogare con il nostro subconscio e di dare alla nostra vita la direzione che avremmo sempre voluto che avesse.
