Preface
This volume in the Static and Dynamic Game Theory: Foundationsand Applica-
tions series is a collection of the papers of the NetGCoop 2016 conference. The
eventtookplaceinthemagnificentoldcityofAvignon,France,November23–25,
2016,andwashostedbytheUniversityofAvignon.
Network controlandoptimizationhavebeen of increasingimportancein many
networkingapplication domains, such as mobile and fixed access networks, com-
puter networks, social networks, transportation networks, and more recently elec-
tricitygridsandbiologicalnetworks.
Both conceptual and algorithmic tools are needed for efficient and robust
control operation, for performance optimization, and for better understanding the
relationshipsbetweenentitiesthatmaybecooperativeoractselfishly,inuncertain
andpossiblyadversarialenvironments.
The goal of this international conference is to bring together researchers from
differentareaswiththeoreticalexpertiseingametheory,control,andoptimization
andwithapplicationsinthedomainslistedabove.
During the conference, three keynote talks were given by well-known
researchers: Jean Bernard Laserre (the moment-LP and moment-SOS approaches
inpolynomialoptimizationandsomeotherapplications),PatriceMarcotte(bilevel
optimization:thegoodandthelessgood,illustratedthroughfourapplications),and
SergiuHart(smoothcalibration,leakyforecasts,finiterecall,andNashdynamics).
There were also 21 paper presentations, 12 issued from regular submitted papers
and9wereinvited.Bothgroupspassedareviewprocess.
ThesuccessoftheconferencewaslargelyduetothechairsandTPCmembers,
and we thank them heartily. We would also like to thank our sponsors: Orange,
LINCS, PGMO (FMJH EdF), UAPV, GDR 2932(Théoriedes jeux:Modélisation
Mathématique et Applications), and the University of Trento. We also thank the
Springer team, Benjamin Levitt and Christopher Tominich, for their confidence,
help,andkindness.
