the rest of theMontage possesses. This, of course, will involve much more preparation andwork.

Digital technology as I stated last year, has made every staff member's photographic duties
mucheasier. Thetwodigitalcameraswepurchasedin 2001 haveallowedus tosavemoneyand
alsobringin amuch largervolumeofimages in a smaller timeframa Wehavebeen abletoget
morecoverageandnothaveas longofawaitonfilm processing.Yes, this technologycostmoney
but these two cameras have since paid for themselves more than once in reduced film and film-
processingcosts. Wehopetocontinuetoupdateour technologyso that ourproduction oftheyear-
bookcancontinuetobeas proficientandcostneffectiveaspossible.
Ihopeyou, thestudents, willenjoytheadditionalphotos includedin thiseditionoftheMontage.

Preparation: There is no preparation for college life. Expect
the unexpected. Remember, anything imaginable can, and
probably will, happen.
Cook: In the dorms, at the games, or by the library's water
fountain.
Ingredients:
1 tightly packed dorm room
5 gallons, one per weekday, of caffeine-carrying coffee
much dreaded term paper
1
mysterious, unknown roommate
1
A ton of spontaneity
Channel 35, the Montevallo Movie Channel
Homesickness
Hundreds of friendly squirrels
Miles of chalked sidewalk announcing who's having what
A sprig of studying
An occasional dip in partying
Piles of dirty laundry
Only pennies in pocket change
1. Dissolve all apprehension and shyness. Students will not
allow you to be timid.
2. Trim all stereotypes: you'll be the one missing out.
3. Prepare to study all nights before finals and party all night
otherwise. Sleep is an impossibility and therefore is cut out
from your schedule. Don't believe it? Ask someone who lives
on campus. Radios blast, doors slam, phones ring, and cars
crank up even at 2:00 in the morning.
4. Cover all the basics. Don't limit yourself to just one aspect of
college life. Do study, please study, but party some. Get
involved, volunteer, play a sport, or join the yearbook staff.
Do anything to meet people.
5. Add 5:30 a.m. fire alarms, delivery from Pizza Hut,
forgetting your umbrella on a rainy day, and last-minute
studying.
Yields: Life-long friends, hilarious inside jokes, an extreme
amount of tolerance, and enough "life" in four years to last
eighty.
