Preface
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are nanoporous polymers, consisting of inor-
ganic metal focuses connected by natural ligands. These entities have gotten extraor-
dinary consideration because of their exceptional physical and chemical properties
that make them pertinent in various fields, such as designing, medicine, and the
environment. Since combination conditions affect the properties of these compounds
incredibly, it is specifically important to choose an appropriate synthesis technique
that produces the product with homogeneous morphology, dispersion, and high ther-
mal stability with a good surface area suitable for its broad applications in different
fields. This book covers different aspects of composite fabrication for energy storage
and catalysts including the preparation, design, characterization techniques of MOF
materials and their application. The special features in this book consist of illustra-
tions and tables that summarize up-to-date information on research carried out on
manufacturing, design, characterization, and applications of MOF composites. This
book assembles the information and knowledge on MOF materials and emphasizes
the concept of the latest technology in the field of manufacturing and design. This
book benefits lecturers, students, researchers, and industrialists who are working in
the field of material science, especially MOF composites, as a valuable reference
handbook for teaching, learning, and research. This book is a new edition and differs
from the previous edition in its focus on the usage of composites. It elaborates the
design and manufacturing process of MOF materials in all aspects. The latest trends
in the application of MOF composites are described to the readers. The replacement
of conventional composite materials with MOF composites in the area of manufac-
turing and design to achieve sustainable practice is highlighted with real applications
in this book, which are not covered in previous editions.
The focus of this book is about the current demand of the MOF composites that
respond to the environment just like biological entities. The specialism in MOFs
is understood by its outstanding repairing and sustainable properties. Unlike other
composites, this composite is combined with resins, carbon materials, and nanopar-
ticles to form a MOF composite. MOF composite materials currently stand best
among the replacement materials to conventional engineering composite materials
because of their outstanding features like their light weight, lower cost, environmen-
tally friendly properties, and sustainability. The unique feature of this book is that it
presents a unified knowledge of the human-friendly material based on characteriza-
tion, design, manufacture, and applications.
We are highly thankful to all authors who contributed chapters and provided their
valuable ideas and knowledge in this edited book. We attempt to gather all the scat-
tered information of authors from diverse fields around the world (Malaysia, Jordan,
USA, Turkey, India, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Oman, and Sweden) in the areas
of metal composites and finally complete this venture in a fruitful way. We greatly
