MAT VS.GRE
Who takes the Miller Analogies Test?
The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is used for admission to certain graduate programs.
In some cases, it may be taken in lieu of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). In other cases,
it may be the only test required.
Unlike the GRE, which is a test of general knowledge, the MAT is an assessment of logical
thinking skills. Instead of being broken into sections on writing, verbal skills, and
quantitative skills, the MAT consists of a single section of 120 multiple-choice analogies,
100 of which count toward your score.
How do I know whether I should take the Miller Analogies Test?
Review the admissions requirements of the graduate programs to which you wish to apply.
Some will require the GRE instead of the MAT. Some will give you a choice. Some will
require the MAT. If you have any questions, contact the appropriate admissions
departments directly.
PLANNING TO TAKE THE MILLER ANALOGIES TEST
When is the Miller Analogies Test given,and how do I register for it?
The test is given at testing centers around the country, but the schedule and fees are set by
the centers themselves. Your local college or university may well be the site of a testing
center. To find the testing center nearest you, call [phone] or go to
www.milleranalogies.com and click on “MAT Controlled Testing Centers.”
When should I take the Miller Analogies Test?
You have the option of designating recipients of your score report when you take the test.
It takes about four weeks for scores to be sent out. Check with your chosen graduate
