Preface
Infrared Thermography (IRT) is commonly used these days as a NDE tool to identify
damages and provide remedial action. The fields of application are vast, that amongst
others, includes materials science, life sciences and applied engineering. This book
offers a collection of ten chapters with three major sections - relating to application of
infrared thermography to study problems in materials science, agriculture, veterinary
and sports fields as well as in engineering applications. The authors who have
contributed to this book have a thorough knowledge in this select field. Aspects
relating to both experimental application of IRT, as well as to mathematical modeling
of temperature fields have been covered in this book. There is still a wide scope to
make the technique as a quantitative measure of changes in any physical, biological
system and it is our hope that more and more researchers in this field will contribute
to the future compilations of research articles.
