About the Editors
Nisha Taneja is Professor at the Indian Council for Research on International
Economic Relations (ICRIER), New Delhi, India. She has a Ph.D. from the
Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and has a wide range of experience in
policy-oriented research in India. Her key areas of interest include trade and
transport facilitation, non-tariff barriers, regional integration, informal trade, insti-
tutional economics and the textile industry. She has worked on various aspects of
India–Pakistan trade, India–Nepal trade, India–Sri Lanka trade, India–China trade,
India–Japan trade,India–Koreatrade,India–Bangladesh trade and India–Myanmar
trade on issues related to tariffs, sensitive lists, services, investment, non-tariff
measures, and trade and transport facilitation.
Dr. Taneja’s research work has been a key contributor to the trade negotiations
intheSouthAsianregion.ShehasservedoncommitteessetupbytheGovernment
of India on informal trade, rules of origin and non-tariff barriers. She has been a
consultant to the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. Dr. Taneja has
alsoconductedresearchforseveralgovernmentministries,bilateralandmultilateral
agencies.
Dr. Taneja has published three books, more than 50 articles in books and
journals and 35 reports/working papers. She is the co-editor of the book
India-PakistanTrade:StrengtheningEconomicRelations,publishedbySpringerin
August 2014. Her work has been disseminated widely in India and several other
countries including Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka,Pakistan,Philippines,Thailand,
Korea, Japan, USA, UAE and Germany.
Isha Dayal is a Ph.D. candidate at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy,
National University of Singapore (NUS). Prior to this she was Research Associate
at Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER),
New Delhi, associated with projects on India–Pakistan trade normalization sup-
ported by DFID and Japan Project supported by Sasakawa Peace Foundation. Her
research interests include trade policy and international economy, with focus on

flows, and has worked on several research articles and papers on these themes.
Previously, Isha has been a consultant with the United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP), India, and Infrastructure Development Finance Company
(IDFCLtd.),NewDelhi.ShehasaBachelor’sdegreeinEconomicsfromMiranda
House, University of Delhi; and an M.Sc. Degree in Economic Development and
Policy Analysis from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom.
