The child's first teachers are his parents. From the moment
of birth, the infant's father and mother are devoted to pro-
tecting the life and health of their child. During infancy,
his efforts in communication, his spiritual growth, and his
play activities are also guided by his parents. As themonths
and years of infancy advance, the child shares with his*
parents these responsibiUties. By the time he is old enough
to enter kindergarten, his parentshave taught him to speak
a language, to feed himself, to manage his clothes, to say
prayers, to listen to stories, to sing and play, to meet toilet
needs, to follow safety rules, and to be a participating
member of the family. This great beginning in the child's
education shows the parents truly to he teachers.
