Fényes Adolf (1867, Kecskemét ‐ 1945, Budapest) Jogi tanulmányait félbehagyva 1884‐től 1887‐ig a Mintarajziskolában Székely Bertalan és Gregus János növendéke. 1887‐1890 között Weimarban Max Thedytől tanult, 1891‐ben Párizsban a Julian Akadémiát látogatta, majd újabb két évet töltött Thedynél. 1894‐98 között Benczúr Gyula mesteriskolájában működött. Az 1900‐as évet Olaszországban és Franciaországban töltötte. Részt vett a szolnoki művésztelep létrehozásában, 1902‐től minden nyarat Szolnokon töltött. A szegényemberek élete sorozat után a plein air foglalkoztatta, festményeit világos színek, egyszerű kompozíció jellemzik. Utolsó gyűjteményes kiállítását 1936‐ban A Fränkel Szalonban rendezte, ezután már keveset festett, 1944‐ben elhurcolták, a felszabadulást súlyos betegen érte meg. Művészete a realizmus és a plein air festés legjobb magyar eredményei közé tartozik.
