First and foremost I thank and give glory to the Almighty God for bringing me this far which
could not have been possible without His will. I can surely say “I can do all things through
Christ who strengths me” Philippians 4 verse 6.
Secondly I am grateful to several people and organizations for their diverse contributions
in the process of both field work and report writing.
I would like to express my deepest and heart-felt gratitude to my supervisor Professor
Stig H. Jørgensen for his patience with me, continuous guidance, constructive criticisms,
valuable suggestions, encouragements and inspirations even as my lecturer in Geography of
Health, the ‘root’ of my thesis. I salute you professor!
I am also grateful to MPhil Development Studies Programme and in particular the
Geography Department Staff members. Specific sincere thanks go to the administrative staff for
well-coordinated program activities, Bodil Wold, Anette Sofie Knutsen, Rita Hokseggen, and Per
Ivar Chiutko and also to my lectures in various courses especially Prof. Ragnhild Lund, Prof.
Cathrine Brun and Prof. Haakon Lein. I say am so thankful to you all.
I am indebted to Kyrre Svarva a staff at NTNU IT Department for his enormous
contributions in the design and modifications of the ‘machine readable’ questionnaire before
field work and scanning of all completed questionnaires after field work. I say thank you Sir.
I am very appreciative to the Norwegian State Loan Fund for granting me scholarship
under Quota Scheme and in particular, by then, the coordinator Anette Moen and her fellow staff
members for her effective communication during the application process and orientation
activities.
I also thank all respondents especially key informants for their willingness and for being
available to provide information and official statistics data which have made this study a success.
