Mission Statement
EmmanuelCollegeopenedin 1919asthefirstCatholiccollegeforwomen in NewEngland.
The Sistersof Notre Damefounded Emmanuel Collegeto provide an excellent liberal arts
education based on Catholic principles to women in the Boston area who might not
otherwise have had that opportunity. The founding mission remains vital as the college
educates students for today and for the next century.
The college's mission reflectsthe religious and educational mission ofa Catholicchurch
committed to human rights, social justice, and world peace. As part of its religious
