It examines implementing customer profiling using a service-oriented architecture. The thesis conducted a literature review on SOA, customer profiling, and e-commerce systems development. It then prototyped a Java web services-based customer profiling system following SOA design principles. An evaluation survey using eye tracking compared the prototype to a client-server system. The results showed no significant difference between the systems for participants, but eye tracking identified a significant difference. The thesis concluded SOA offers more benefits than client-server for customer profiling and improves interoperability.
