This study examines the relationship between CEO transformational leadership, human-capital enhancing human resource management practices, and organizational outcomes. The researchers hypothesized that human-capital enhancing HR practices would mediate the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational outcomes like performance, absenteeism, and sales. Using a survey of 170 firms in Singapore, they found that human-capital enhancing HR fully mediated the relationship between transformational leadership and subjective performance/absenteeism, and partially mediated the relationship with absenteeism. The results suggest transformational leadership impacts outcomes through its influence on progressive HR practices.
