The Prajfii:iparamita was translated into Tibetan in the eighth cen
tury at the time of King Trisong. Detsen, Guru Padmasambhava
and Shantar~ita. Bits of these teachings were translated into the
English language in the 20th century. During this time I had the
great privilege to give extensive teachings on the Heart Sutra at the
Padmasambhava Buddhist Center in Tennessee.
I'd like to express my thanks to Craig Bialick, Padma Shug
Chang, who transcribed the tapes of these teachings; to Phyllis
Taylor who gave effort so generously to edit the transcripts
together with the assistance of Janet Gyatso; to Nancy Ash, Padma
Teng Don, and Judith Cooper who designed the book in its present
beautiful form; to William Hinman; and finally to all the members
of Sky Dancer Press, especially Joan Kaye, Padma Choe Dron who,
near the end of the 20th century, brought this splendid edition of
Buddha's discourse to completion.
By the dedication of the merit of this auspicious activity, may there
be no more war, famine or natural disasters. May all beings understand
the meaning of the true nature and attain supreme buddhahood.
