Revise the second and third paragraphs in Admission Requirements for
Nursing Assistant Program Applicants (New orTransfer):
All applicants who meet minimumplacement test requirements and have
completed fileswillbe sentwrittennotificationfromthe AdmissionsOfficeof
thedate class willbeginandofthedate and time forregistration.
Qualifiedapplicantswillbe accepted/registered intothe NursingAssistant
Program on afirstcome-first served basisuntiltheenrollmentlimitisreached
foraparticularclass. Theremainingapplicantswillbeplacedonawaitinglist
for first consideration for the subsequent quarter, or when the next Nursing
Assistantcourse isofferedduringthesameyear. Applicantswhodidnotmeet
minimumplacement test score requirements and desire to beenrolled into the
program insubsequentquarters willneedtocompletedevelopmentaleducation
course work to be eligible to enroll in the Nursing Assistant program. All
applicants remaining on the list followingspringquarter will beconsidered on
a first come-first served basis for admission to the program during the
subsequent academic year.

Theabove requirements foradmissionmust becompletedbyJuly 1 tobe
consideredforadmissionintotheprogramduringthesubsequentacademicyear.
Cosmetologyapplicantsmaybeadmittedonlyduringthefallandspringquarters
ofanacademic year. Cosmetology applicantswithcompletedadmissionsfiles
onJuly 1 andwhomeettheminimumplacementtestscorerequirementswillbe
sent written notification from the Admissions Office of the time, date, and
locationoftheirCosmetology interview/orientation.
Applicantscompletingthegroup/orientationwillbeaccepted/registeredinto
the program on a first come-first served basis until the enrollment limit is
reached forthefallquarter. Remainingapplicantswhoattendedtheorientation
butwhodo notregister for the fall quarter willbekeptonthe waitinglist for
first consideration for the spring quarter. All applicants remaining on the
waitinglistafter spring quarter willbeconsidered on a firstcome-first served
basis for admissions to the program during the subsequent academic year.
Applicantswhodid not meet minimumplacement test score requirements will
need to complete the necessary developmental education course work to be
consideredforthe subsequentacademic year.

FRESH START POLICY (Academic Forgiveness) (pending COA Boardof
Trustees' approval)
AnyformerCollegeofTheAlbemarlestudentwhohasexperiencedalapse
ofenrollment at College of The Albemarle for a period of three consecutive
academic years may petitiononly once to the Dean of Instructionto have all
coursework, oranybelow-averagegradesandhoursattempted,disregarded in
calculatingthestudent'sgradepointaverage. Uponre-enrolling followingthe
lapse, the student must first complete 18 quarter hours ofcredit course work
with aminimum2.0GPA before requestinggrade forgiveness. Ifthe request
is approved, the record of the earlier course work affected remains on the
student's transcript but is not calculated in the cumulative GPA. Honors, if
applicable, willbeawarded baseduponthe new. Fresh Start GPA.

submit an official score report for the Test of English as a Foreign
Language (TOEFL) or provide documented evidence of English
LanguageproficiencytotheAdmissionsOffice. TheCollegeofThe
AlbemarlerequiresaTOEFLscoreof500ordocumentedevidenceof
Englishlanguageproficiency, i.e., course transcript.
NOTE: International students who do nothave the required TOEFL
score are recommended toenroll inan intensive Englishprogram at
oneoftheELSLanguageCenterslocatedthroughouttheUnitedStates
andtheworld. TheclosestcentertoCOA is located inWashington,
