ThisspringtheOglethorpeUniversityMuseumofArtcelebratedthe400thanniversary
ofRembrandt's birthwithSordidandSacred: TheBeggarsinRembrandt'sEtchings.
Rembrandt'setchings,35ofwhichwereondisplay,werecompletedbetween1629and
1654.Heisrenownedasthegreatestpractitioneroftheetchingtechniqueinthehistoryof
art,usingbeggarsashismainsubjects.Hissketchesofbiblicalfiguresportrayedasbeggars
show"hisformativeyearsasanartist.Thewayheimaginedthebeggarisinextricablefrom
thewayheimaginedhimself,thewayheimaginedChrist,thewayheconceivedofimagery
itself,"saidGarySchwartz,Dutchauthor,arthistorianandeditorofTheCompleteEtchings
ofRembrandt.

The50-49lossatthehandsofTrinityUniversityintheSCACTournamentthatendedOglethorpe'sseasonwasbefittingateam
thatenduredheartbreakingdefeatsthroughoutthe2006-2007season.Incompilingasolid14-12(7-7intheSCAC)record,the
Petrelslostastaggeringeightcontestsbyfivepointsorfewer,demonstratinghowclosethisteamwastobreakingthrough.
Despitethenarrowlosses,thisPetrelsquadhadseveralhallmarksthatdistinguishedtheteam.Theyledtheconference
inscoringbyawidemarginandnearlytoppledtheschoolrecordinthesamecategoryaswell.Thisteamshottheball

As ofmid-April, the men's golfteam continues to
hold steady as the #4 ranked men's team in the
nationandalongwiththe#10rankedwomen'steam,

in partnering with The First Tee ofEast Lake. In
exchangeforvaluablepracticetimeontheirillustrious
course,OUgolferstaughtbasicgolfskillstostudents
ingrades2-8fromDrewCharterSchoolatCharlies
Yates GolfCourse. Thetraining, which emphasizes
discipline,hardworkandintegrity,countsasphysical
