These are the Times...
Dear Members of the Class of 2001,
Thetime hascome to walkacrossthestageand say your good-byes to Cambridge Rindge
and Latin School. As you reflect back on your years at CRLS, the memories will vary, forsure.
Many of youentered this school frightened ofits sizeand complexity and unsure of your part
init. Youleave, having participated in many different learning experiences in the classroom,
onthe fields, on thestage,and in thelargercommunity. Youhave made friends with students
and faculty. Some of those relationships you will maintain
for the rest of your life.
You have, [hope, stretched yourself here, taken risks,
and learned a great deal-not only about specific disciplines
or skills but also about yourself as a learner and
community member. We have tried to support and
encouraged you, but we have also understood that the
choices you made were on your own. In the end, you
leave your four years at CRLS having assumed
responsibility for your own learning and your own
growth. We,theCRLS faculty and staff, your parents and
your guardians havebeen partners with youinthatjourney.
The nextleg of yourjourney willbe different. You will
assume even more independence than you did in high
school. You willgotocollege, or you willenterthe world of CAMBRIDGE RINDGE AND, TIN
work. Some of you willcombineschooling and work. You
willsearch for your placeinthelargercommunity, forsome
inCambridgeand forsomeata great distance fromhome.
The future is somewhat ofa mystery. Who knows where
eachof you willbe five years fromnow?
Iwishforevery oneofyoutheopportunity tochooseyour [eae
path, to forge that path with friends and family supporting
you,and tomakea differenceinour world. Iwishyou “hope
intheunseen’” and faithin yourself. [wish youstrengthand
courageaysou facethe difficult decisionsand lifechallenges
thatlieahead. wishyouhealthand good will. And, finally,
Iwishyoutheundersotfa dinffderienncges , thecompassion,
and thetolerancethatwillmakeourworld onewhereyouare
pround tospeakupand stand forthe freedomsand respon-
sibilities weallshare.
