PRESIDENT'S SAY
hope that all of you had a pleasant and enjoyable holidays and are looking forward to what the new
year will bring. It is with the winter weather that time can be found from outdoor chores to persue
our hobbies. for one, have had some time to devote to getting things organized, cataloged, and
I,
recorded. The last part is important for future reference if it becomes necessary to divest yourself
of a collection or if someone else has to! Once again Virginia and Wayne Dennis have graciously
consented to handle the summer raffle to be held at the August ANA meeting. If you have items to
donate to the raffle, please send them to Virginia in time to have a listing of material posted in
Bunyan's Chips prior to the convention in Portland, Oregon, August 5-9, 1 998. Mail your donation
to: Virginia Dennis, 1852 Golden Shadow Dr., Henderson, NV. 89015-8620.
If there are any questions you can reach me at (206)244-1 59 6. Please have your donation to
Virginia no later than June 1 , 1 998. If you have not made reservations for the convention now is the
time to do so. Remember that IOWMC has a block of rooms reserved at Portland Central, Motel,

I
goal for theconv^tte* is that tbe gathering will be well attended by seasoned, intermediate, and our
beginner collectors. When anyone of these three groups becomes complacent and does not participate
in organization activities, then the hobby suffers. Over the years have witnessed the demise of to

many clubs as the members become " Seasoned Collectors" and did not participate or pass on their
wisdom to the other two groups. A friend had a saying that " Everyone should have something to collect
or the only thing they will collect is moss. Happy Collecting-Del Cushing- Pres. IOWMC
IN MEMORY OF
ANTONINETTE CICHY HLM-44
Joining our organization back in 1974, "Toni" showed an active interest in club activities through
donations to club raffles, correspondence with club members, sponsoring many into the hobby, and
developing friendships with many of us. In 1 982 she took on the duties as club secretary and kept
the job for ten years. She was the clubs Historian, and maintained records about our hobby and it's
members. There is a saying that" your only as strong as your weakest link". I'm
a firm believer that Toni was always somewhere to be found in the middle of our chain. Our club, as
well as that of its members, have had to feel the loss of many a fine member over the years. The
officers and members of IOWMC send their sincere sympathy to the family and friends.-- Editor--
