What is Dual Credit?
College courses for college and high school credit!

Courses are taken at the high school or can be taken at Alvin Community College.

Courses are taught by ACC Faculty or high school teachers who are qualified to
teach at the college level.

Core Dual Credit Courses transfer to Texas Public Colleges & Universities with a
grade C or higher. Dual Credit Technical courses are not guaranteed to transfer
to universities but can be used to earn associate degrees and certificates at the
community college level. If you are not sure what is Core versus Technical, visit
with your ACC Dual Credit Advisor.

High school classes that can be awarded as college credit.
Students must earn an 80 or above in the course.
Student must graduate from high school.
Student must attend ACC and select an Applied Science
degree.
Student may receive credit after completion of one
semester.
These courses do not transfer to 4yr universities after high
school and are not considered Dual Credit.

ACC 2.0 GPA
Required for continued participation in the Dual Credit Program. Students who do not maintain 2.0 GPA
at the end of the semester will be placed on probation. Probation will last 1 long semester (Fall &
Winter/ Spring & Summer). Students will be allowed to re-enroll after sitting out 1 long semester. If GPA
does not improve, the student will be expelled from the Dual Credit Program.

ACC 3.0 GPA or 85 or higher High School GPA
Required to take more than 2 Dual Credit classes per semester.

C or higher
Required to move to the next Foreign Language

C or higher
Required to guarantee transferability of core courses
