В учебном пособии представлен материал по темам, связанным с
актуальными вопросами высшего образования. Пособие состоит из
текстов, тщательно подобранных из современных англоязычных на-
учных статей и официальных сайтов образовательных организаций.
Также представлены упражнения, вводящие в изучаемую тему, на-
правленные на понимание общего и детального содержания текстов,
задания с видеоматериалом из интернет-источников, подходящие по
тематике и позволяющие студентам развивать навыки аудирования
и говорения. Пособие дополнительно содержит систематические
комментарии об особенностях научного английского языка с приме-
рами из предлагаемых текстов. Кроме того, в пособии имеются зада-
ния для развития навыков рефлексирования и критического мышления.
Пособие предназначено для обучающихся по направлению под-
готовки 44.04.01 Педагогическое образование.

ПРЕДИСЛОВИЕ

Настоящее учебное издание представляет собой учебное пособие
для дисциплины Иностранный язык для специальных целей» в
рамках реализации образовательной программы высшего образова-
ния по направлению подготовки 44.04.01 Педагогическое образова-
ние» очной заочной формы обучения и подготовлено в соответст-
вии с требованиями Федерального государственного образователь-
ного стандарта высшего образования.
Дисциплина Иностранный язык для специальных целей» отно-
сится к обязательным дисциплинам базовой части Блока 1 в струк-
туре ОП. Изучение дисциплины направлено на формирование уни-
версальных компетенций:
УК4. Способен применять современные коммуникативные тех-
нологии, в том числе на иностранном(ых) языке(ах), для академиче-
ского и профессионального взаимодействия.
УК5. Способен анализировать и учитывать разнообразие культур
в процессе межкультурного взаимодействия.
В результате освоения дисциплины обучающийся должен:
знать:
- основные способы словообразования;
- лексический минимум терминологического характера, в том
числе в области узкой специализации;
- лексику общенаучной тематики;
- основные грамматические явления, характерные для общена-
учной и профессиональной речи;
- особенности научного стиля речи;
- виды речевых произведений: аннотация, реферат, тезисы, со-
общения, деловое письмо, биография.
уметь:
- высказываться в связи с предложенной коммуникативной зада-
чей на темы общенаучного и профессионального характера;
- логично и последовательно выражать свою мысль мнение в
связи с предложенной ситуацией общения;
- вести двусторонний диалог-расспрос в рамках изучаемой тема-
тики;
- участвовать в управляемой дискуссии на темы, связанные со
специальностью;

- понимать на слух устную (монологическую и диалогическую)
речь в рамках изучаемых тем общенаучного и профессионального
характера;
- читать и понимать со словарем литературу по широкому и уз-
кому профилю изучаемой специальности.
Владеть:
- навыками устной коммуникации и применять их для общения
на темы учебного, общенаучного и профессионального общения;
- основными навыками письменной коммуникации, необхо-
димыми для ведения переписки в профессиональных и научных
целях;
- основными приемами аннотирования, реферирования литера-
туры по специальности;
- основами публичной речи – делать подготовленные сообщения,
доклады, выступать на научных конференциях.
Основной задачей настоящего учебного пособия является орга-
низация работы обучающихся по изучению актуальных вопросов
современного образования, обсуждаемых в англоязычных научных
статьях, в рамках дисциплины Иностранный язык для специаль-
ных целей».
Пособие состоит из предисловия, трех разделов и библиографи-
ческого списка. В конце пособия имеются ключи и рекомендации
для студентов по чтению, дискуссии, аудированию и переводу на-
учных текстов на иностранном языке.
Первый раздел посвящен обсуждению Болонского процесса,
сыгравшего ключевую роль в формировании системы современного
российского образования. Данный раздел делится на три части: Бо-
лонский процесс, Болонский процесс в России, высшее образование
в России.
Следующий раздел содержит две части, включающие материал
об академической мобильности и программах академического
обмена.
Последний раздел также содержит две части, в которых даются
рекомендации по развитию навыков конспектирования и критиче-
ского мышления.
Одной из целей дисциплины Иностранный язык для специаль-
ных целей» является обучение студентов-магистрантов представ-
лять результаты исследовательской и проектной деятельности на
различных публичных мероприятиях, участвовать в академических

и профессиональных дискуссиях на иностранном языке. Данное
учебное пособие направлено в значительной степени на развитие
таких видов речевой деятельности, как чтение, аудирование, гово-
рение.
Оба раздела учебного пособия и составляющие его части пред-
ставлены текстами из научных статей и официальных сайтов орга-
низаций. Все части снабжены упражнениями на понимание содер-
жания текстов, лексико-грамматическими упражнениями, задания-
ми для развития навыков рефлексирования и критического мышле-
ния. Кроме этого, имеются задания с видеоматериалом из интернет-
источников, подходящие по тематике и позволяющие студентам
развивать навыки аудирования и говорения.

Joint declaration of the European Ministers of Education –
The Bologna Declaration of 19 June 1999

The aims of the Sorbonne Declaration were confirmed in 1999,
through the Bologna Declaration, where 29 countries expressed their
willingness to commit to enhance the competitiveness of the European
Higher Education Area, emphasising the need to further the independ-
ence and autonomy of all Higher Education Institutions. All the provi-
sions of the Bologna Declaration were set as measures of a voluntary

harmonisation process, not as clauses of a binding contract.
While affirming our support to the general principles laid down in the
Sorbonne declaration, we engage in coordinating our policies to reach in
the short term, and in any case within the first decade of the third millen-
nium, the following objectives, which we consider to be of primary rele-
vance in order to establish the European area of higher education and to
promote the European system of higher education world-wide.
Adoption of a system of easily readable and comparable degrees, also
through the implementation of the Diploma Supplement, in order to
promote European citizens employability and the international competi-
tiveness of the European higher education system.
Adoption of a system essentially based on two main cycles, under-
graduate and graduate. Access to the second cycle shall require success-
ful completion of first cycle studies, lasting a minimum of three years.
The degree awarded after the first cycle shall also be relevant to the Eu-
ropean labour market as an appropriate level of qualification. The second
cycle should lead to the master and/or doctorate degree as in many Euro-
pean countries.
Establishment of a system of credits – such as in the ECTS system –
as a proper means of promoting the most widespread student mobility.
Credits could also be acquired in non-higher education contexts, includ-
ing lifelong learning, provided they are recognised by receiving Univer-
sities concerned.
Promotion of mobility by overcoming obstacles to the effective exer-
cise of free movement with particular attention to:
 for students, access to study and training opportunities and to re-
lated services
 for teachers, researchers and administrative staff, recognition and
valorisation of periods spent in a European context researching, teaching
and training, without prejudicing their statutory rights.
Promotion of European cooperation in quality assurance with a view
to developing comparable criteria and methodologies.
Promotion of the necessary European dimensions in higher education,
particularly with regards to curricular development, interinstitutional
cooperation, mobility schemes and integrated programmes of study,
training and research.
The organisation of the process was decided by the EU Ministers in
September 1999 and a work programme was established by the follow-
up group in November 1999.

Irregular plural forms

In Academic English, there are many words that are borrowed from
Latin and Greek. As a rule, they retain their original plural forms, that is
they do not add -s or -es, as the overwhelming majority of English nouns do.

Exercise 8. Make the following nouns plural:
curriculum, alumnus, alumna, datum, millennium, crisis, analysis,
phenomenon, syllabus, criterion

British English and American English

British and American English often have different spelling for the
same words, for example, centre – center, colour – color.

Exercise 10. In pairs/groups, discuss the Bologna Declaration using
the key words and phrases from the text.
