This thesis studied the machinability characteristics of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composites with different fiber orientations during endmilling. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of fiber orientation, cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut on surface roughness and delamination using response surface methodology and artificial neural networks. Additional experiments investigated the effects of helix angle, spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut on machining forces. Finally, Taguchi methods with fuzzy logic were used to optimize the machining parameters for multiple performance characteristics, including machining forces, delamination, and surface roughness. The results from confirmation tests validated that the optimal machining parameter combination improved the machining process performance.
