Actually, this fish soup was made by the Ruanlin Family to a standard meant for Ruan Jiaojiao, with very little salt. As Grandpa Shu grew older, his taste also became milder, and this suited him perfectly.
Watching Grandpa Shu drink sip after sip while her own soup hadn’t cooled down yet, Ruan Jiaojiao became quite anxious. She leaned in with her little head trying to blow it cool herself, but when she opened her mouth, she realized she didn’t have that ability.
Seeing her so anxious, the Ruanlin Family turned to get another bowl, scooped spoonfuls into the empty bowl, shook it until the fish soup no longer emitted steam, then tested the temperature with her lips. Feeling it was just right, she handed it to the eagerly awaiting Ruan Jiaojiao.
Ruan Jiaojiao immediately leaned in her little head, extended her small tongue to taste it. The deliciousness spread on her tongue, her eyes widened with surprise, and she began to happily lick it.
Sip sip.
In just a few seconds, the spoonful of soup was finished.
“Meow meow meow!” More! I want more, quick quick!
Ruan Jiaojiao raised her head, urging with her little furry mouth all wet, ringed with a milky white halo, looking especially adorable.
The Ruanlin Family’s heart melted, quickly scooped another spoonful over and she drank about seven or eight spoons. Then the Ruanlin Family stopped her: “Okay, that’s enough for now. You need to take it slow, or you’ll get diarrhea. At noon, I’ll cook some meat for you. What kind do you want? Chicken or beef?”
“There’s also venison, lamb, cod, duck…” Grandpa Shu rattled off a list of meats, afraid Ruan Jiaojiao might not know how much he cared.
The Ruanlin Family watched him chatter and couldn’t help but laugh, echoing: “Yes, and all those your grandpa mentioned. Look, what do you want?”
“How about grandpa get you some quail? I’ve heard other cats like quail chicks, just hatched, very nutritious…” Before finishing, he saw Ruan Jiaojiao shaking her head vigorously, indicating refusal.
Back when she was in the forest with Xiu Xi, she ate raw meat, but over the years, living as a human, she got accustomed to cooked meat. Now, even though she’s a cat again, her taste won’t go back.
Grandpa Shu merely mentioned it casually, didn’t really intend to give Ruan Jiaojiao quail. Seeing she didn’t like it, he didn’t bring it up again. He took his bowl to refill with fish soup, muttering how fresh and delicious it was.
In the end, the fish soup made by the Ruanlin Family, Ruan Jiaojiao only drank the bottom of the bowl, while Grandpa Shu drank to his heart’s content.
As Xiu Xi came downstairs, Ruan Jiaojiao already hugged her little bottle, continuing to drink her goat milk.
The phone rang nearby; knowing only the Ruan Family would call at this time, Xiu Xi picked up the phone.
As soon as the call was connected, there came the unmistakable loud voice of Ruan Jianguo: “Sweetheart, is that you, sweetheart?”
“Meow ah!” Daddy! It’s me!
Ruan Jiaojiao was sitting next to it, hearing his booming voice, immediately raised her little neck to respond.
“Oh, daddy’s little sweetheart, did you miss daddy?”
“Meow.” Didn’t miss.
With three calls a day, morning, noon, and night, she never missed a chance. What’s there to miss?
“Sweetheart missed daddy, hahaha, daddy missed you too.” Ruan Jianguo laughed heartily on the other end.
