CHAPTER ONE
s a proud team of K.imberly-Clarkers entered a large room in New York City's
Equitable Building, they were met by 125 financial analysts and business
reporters. \Vith an additional 431 analysts and reporters listening by telephone
from financial outposts around the globe, it was clear that on this day - July 17,
1995 - the international investn1ent community and business press were literally and
figuratively focused on Kimberly-Clark Corporation.
