Net als eerdere Alex Crossthrillers is dit een met vaart verteld verhaal met een spannend verloop. De beschrijving van de moorden is nogal heftig hoewel de schrijver daarbij veel aan de fantasie van de lezer over laat. Enige twijfel is er aangaande het vermogen van de wraaklustige crimineel een politieman zo in diskrediet te brengen dat hij geschorst en wellicht veroordeeld wordt, maar de vele liefhebbers van Patterson worden niet teleurgesteld.
