Heritage is defined by Websteras beingsomething transmitted by THE HORNET
or acquired from a predecessor; a legacy; a tradition.
Heritage also means Africa, the motherland; a land rich with
predecessors, legacies and traditions, andforefathers who struggled
throughslaveryandwars. Theword "forefathers"causesus toreflect 1991-92
memorably on persons such as Harriett Tubman to Rosa Parks;
Martin Luther King, Jr. to Nelson Mandela, and Dr. Edward M.
Brawley to Dr. Luns C. Richardson.
For Morris College, Heritage is a gift from dreamers of past Morris College
generations. Upon graduation each graduate becomes an intricate
part of this college's heritage. Starting with Sumter, South Carolina

1908, when the Educational andMissionary Conven-
tion ofSouth Carolina established Morris College for

Morris College has more than justified Hundreds of Negro youth who otherwise
