.Funeral services held at 10:30 Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph Martinson officiated. Wanda
Wallis provided music. Died at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Burial with military rites by American
Legion Post 54 held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Jack Davis, Peter Trudeau, Jeff Siemers, Dan Harsch, Patrick
Johnson and Tom Southworth pallbearers. Rembs Kundinger Funeral Home handled arrangements. St. John's Rosary
Alter Society, Catholic Daughters of America, Elks Lodge of Sorrow, and St. John's parish vigil participated in
services. WWII veteran. Attended grade school in Marshfield and attended high school at McKinley High School in
Marshfield. Went into business with father in 1935 at H. Ebbe Company, bought business from father in 1946 serving
as president and owner until 1965. From 1966 until death was office manager at Peterson Brothers. Member of
American Legion, Elks Lodge, United Commercial Travelers, Side Saddlers Club, and St. John's Catholic Church,
Samoset Council, recipient of Silver Beaver Award. Survived by nine children and eight grandchildren. Memorials
given to Columbus High School Scholarship Fund or St. John's Catholic Church.

WOUNDS ARE FATAL
Lt. Charles Johnson Dies in Vietnam War
The war in Vietnam has claimed the life of another Marshfield young man. He was 1st Lt. Charles L.
Johnson, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Johnson, 308 E. Third St.
The lieutenant, a tank commander with the 25th Infantry, died at 1:15 p.m. yesterday in a Vietnam hospital of
shell-fragment wounds received in action against the Viet Cong.

His parents were personally notified of their son's death by an officer from Camp McCoy a-bout 8 o'clock this
morning.
The body is expected to be returned to Marshfield about the middle of next week. Arrangements are being
made for the lieutenant's cousin, Marine Sgt. James Grancorwitz, also of Marshfield, to serve escort for the
body, if possible. Gracorwitz is stationed at Alameda, Calif.
Lt. Johnson was horn in Marshfield Aug. 12. 1945. He was a 1961 graduate of Columbus High School, and
was a mid-term graduate of St. Norbert College, West De Pere, early in 1966. He majored in accounting and
received a Bachelor of science degree in business administration.

While in college, he was active in the college band and orchestra, the Collegians, and was a member of Sigma
Tau Gamma, the military fraternity, A.U.S.A. On Feb. 21 last year he received his second lieutenant's
commission in the armored ,branch of the Reserves and reported for duty May 2 at Ft. Knox, Ky. Up to that
time he had been employed by Diana Paper Products at Green Bay. He arrived in Vietnam May 1 this year
and was promoted to first lieutenant at that time.

Obituary: - "Died at 11:00 p.m., Friday, at St. Joseph's Hospital where he had been receiving treatment for a
complication of ailments. Rev. Virgil Taylor officiated at funeral held Monday afternoon at 2:00 at First Presbyterian
Church. Buried at Hillside Cemetery. Hansen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Survived by 13
grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Pallbearers were Paul,
David, and Phillip Johnson, James Sizer, Jack Davis, and Joseph Sizer. William Allen sang "Asleep in Jesus" and

Peace, Perfect Peace. Mrs. Glenn D. Tinkham accompanied on the organ."
Attended school in Waupaca and was a student at Lawrence University in Appleton. Came to Marshfield in 1907.
Went into business with his brother, Albert in the H. Ebbe Company and later established the Marshfield Lumber and
Supply Company. Had been retired 19 years at time of death.

Estelle Davis
BLOOMER - Estelle M. Davis, age 89, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at The Bloomer Medical
Center.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the First Congregational Church in Bloomer with Rev.
Phil Schneider officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Windfall Cemetery in Granton.
A time of gathering will be held from 1:30 p.m. until service time Sunday with food and fellowship to follow
the service.
She was born Nov. 7, 1912, in Marshfield to John and Eva (nee Knickerbocker) Johnson. She married Robert
F. Davis on Sept. 14, 1935, in Marshfield.
Mrs. Davis attended Lawrence College and in 1935 she graduated from Rush-Presbyterian School of Nursing
in Chicago. She worked as a private duty nurse in Marshfield, a surgical nurse in Waupaca, a recovery room
nurse at St. Joseph's in Chippewa Falls, an office nurse for Dr. Murphy and a staff
nurse for Bloomer Community Memorial Hospital. She was a 50-year member of the First Congregational

Church and Women's Fellowship, a member of the Bloomer Women's Club and the Bloomer Garden Club, a
charter member of the Bloomer Historical Society and the coordinator for the Bloomer Food
Pantry.
She is survived by her daughter, Roberta Poirier of Bloomer; her son, Jon "Jack" (Barbara) Davis of
Brookfield; half-sister, Lois (Johnson) Becker of Milwaukee; cousin, Catherine (Johnson) Southworth of
Marshfield; seven grandchildren, Joe (Cindy) Poirier of Bloomer, Diane (Brian) Dunnun of Wausau,
Linda (Brian) Fossum of Eau Claire, Nancy (Jim) Dahlka of Bloomer, Bill (Beth) Poirier of Bloomer, Mike
(Paula) Poirier of Bloomer and Rachel Davis of Brookfield; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, in 1988; one brother, Herbert; one cousin,

Eldor Siemers
Eldor R. Siemers, 88, of Marshfield, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at Wells Nature View on South Apple
Avenue, where he has lived the past four months.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home with a family
eulogy at 3 p.m.
Committal services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield with military rites
conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield.
Eldor was born on Feb. 1, 1917, to Louis and Emma (Proefrock) Siemers in Cut Bank, Mont. He graduated
from Marshfield High School in 1934.
He served in the United States Army during World War II from Oct. 15, 1940, until his honorable discharge
as a first sergeant on June 7, 1945. His platoon was the first unit to engage in an offensive attack against the
Japanese Imperial Army on Nov. 18, 1942, in Buna, New Guinea.
He was united in marriage to Marcella S. "Sally" Harsch on Nov. 10, 1941, in Wilmette, Ill. She died on Jan.
20, 1977.
After his military duty, he returned to Marshfield and apprenticed at Schreiner Plumbing and obtained master
plumber status. He then helped build Thule Air Force Base in Greenland as part of Operation Blue Jay. Eldor
was a 50-year member of Local 434 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, working for various constructions
companies in Wisconsin.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield.
He is survived by four sons, Dale (Donna) Siemers of Stillwater, Minn., Richard (friend Linda) Siemers of
Marshfield, Donald Siemers of Camp Douglas and Jeffrey (Karen) Siemers of Mequon; three daughters,
Susan Bymers of Manchester, Conn., Linda (Ray) Dunse of Windsor and Beverly "Deb" (Jeffery) Jirschele of
Marshfield; and long-time companion Joan Trudeau. He is further survived by 13 grandchildren, six great-
grandchildren; and one sister, Gloria Madden of Wisconsin Rapids.
Besides his parents and wife, Eldor was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Autumn Daley; two
brothers, Kermit and Lester Siemers; and one sister, Marvel Fiess.
Eldor's family would like to thank the staff at Wells Nature View for their loving care to our dad during his
time at Wells and also the Ministry Home Hospice Care.
We all miss Dad's great sense of humor.

ORLANDO, FLORIDA - Jean K. Harsch, age 83, died Saturday, November 27, 2004 at her home in Orlando,
Florida after a long illness. She was born Jean Kathleen Rose on April 19, 1921 in Prentice, Wisconsin. She
and her husband moved to the Upper Peninsula in the late 1940's. In the late 1970's Jean K. Harsch along
with her husband Jerry and their son Brian took her old family recipe for Cornish pasties and founded "Jean
Kay's Pasties" of Iron Mountain. Their son Brian expanded the business to Marquette and their daughter
Jerilyn brought the pasty business to Traverse City. Jean has left a fine product that will be enjoyed by "pasty
lovers" for generations to come.
Jean is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jerome (Jerry) Harsch. Her 3 surviving sons and daughters-in-
law are Daniel and Kathleen (Creed) of Orlando, FL, Patrick and Wallis of Columbus, OH and Brian and
Kathy (Zalac) Harsch of Marquette, MI. Her 2 daughters and sons-in-law are Kathleen and Jack Foster of
Orlando, FL, Jerilyn and Nick Deboer of Traverse City, MI and her youngest surviving daughter is Janet
Harsch Hill of Peoria, IL. Jean was the grandmother to 5 grandsons, 5 granddaughters, and 5 great
grandchildren. Thomas P. Rose of Montana is her surviving brother.
She was preceded in death by her father Dr. Harold Rose; mother Merle (Lappin) Rose and her brother
Howard Rose. Jean was much beloved by her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all that knew
her. She said of life "It was never dull".
A private memorial service will be held in Orlando, Florida.

Robert was born June 4, 1931, to Leo M. and Margaret (Rauch) Harsch in the town of McMillan, Marathon
County. Bob never married.
He was instrumental in naming the seven-story city/county/state office building on Central Avenue, "City Hall
Plaza" for which he received a letter of appreciation from Michael D. Meyers, Mayor.
He served in the U.S. Army prior to the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged.
He is survived by two sisters, Joan Trudeau, Marshfield, and Bernadette Allman, Marshfield; and a brother,
Jerome Harsch, Orlando, Fla.

Rasmus Jorgenson departed Denmark on March 2, 1866 and married Ane Magrethe Hansen in New York on April 27,
1866. The 1870 United States census of the Town of Waupaca, Waupaca County, Wisconsin documents that Rasmus
Jorgenson was farming with his wife and family in Waupaca in 1870. The 1900 census of Waupaca documents that
Rasmus Jorgenson was still living in Waupaca; however the only child remaining at home was Albert. The 1900
census also reports that Rasmus had 9 children, but only six were living. Albert Johnson married Emma Clausen and
moved to Marshfield in 1903 and began working for the H. Ebbe Company. His brother John E. Johnson first
attended Lawrence University, but after marrying Eva Knickerbacher moved to Marshfield in 1907. He joined Albert
in the H. Ebbe Company in 1908. Rasmus died at his home of acute intestinal strangulation.
It was also reported in THE WAUPACA RECORD, in the September issue that Rasmus Jorgensen was among a
group who were to be sworn as U.S. Citizens in November 1911, but died before that date

"William's death certificate reads that he died at 8:00 p.m. on February 8, 1936. He was 69 years and 16 days

of age at his death. Theodore Johnson, his brother, was the informant. There was no autopsy.

(William and Theodore were neighbors, as well as brothers. They also were in the grocery business together.)
He is listed as age 51, born in Wisconsin. Also listed are his wife, Lorena, age 37, born in Wisconsin, and
daughter, Lucile, age 19, born in Wisconsin and a Kenneth Chappell. According to Catherine Southworth,
William married a widow with a daughter, and William adopted her.
Catherine also told me that William resembled his brother (her father) Albert the most. William spent winters
in Florida. "
His death certificate from Winnebago County, WI, Volume 60, Page 284 indicates that his birthdate/place
was January 23, 1867 in Waupaca, Waupaca County, WI; his death date/place was February 8, 1936 in
Neenah, Winnebago County, WI. He was buried February 11, 1936 - but I don't have where he was buried -
probably Neenah. He died of cerebral sclerosis, doctored by S. D. Grenwood, MD from August 1935 to
February 8, 1936.

Waupaca. 63 quests attended - among them their attendants at the wedding - John Johnson, brother of the
groom and Mrs. Peter Clausen, sister-in-law of the bride. Received floral tokens, gifts and cards.
1902, he affiliated with the H. Ebbe Company. Three years later, his brother, John joined him and eventually
formed partnership and purchased the business.
Active member of First Presbyterian Church of Marshfield. Treasurer of congregation for more than 20 years,
resigned in 1952 due to ill health. Elder for 3 years, trustee for many years. Member of Odd Fellows and the
Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Died at 6:30 a.m. at home - 76 years old - in ill health for three years. Hansen Funeral Home handled
arrangements. Funeral 10:00 Saturday at First Presbyterian Church - Rev Arther R. Oates, D.D. officiated.
Received education in Waupaca. Survived by wife, four children, brother John, and sister, Mrs. Walter
Andreason of Red Wing, Minn. and 11 grandchildren. A sister and brother preceded him in death.
